But as soon as we begin moving towards the power user status the iphone starts to lag behind due to its dated technology and restricted OS. The thing is that there hasn't been a new iphone since the first one was introduced back in 2007. Now that was a long time ago in the mobile market. The 3GS wasnt really a new phone, some faster chips in it, but that's about it. The rest of it is still 2007 technology and if apple is content on selling outdated technology so be it but the thing is that everyone else continued with development and with updates to their range of phones and that they have left the iphone behind a while ago.
The only thing that keeps the iphone alive (and is at the same time holding it back) is it's wast library of apps. But by making the iphone standard so rigid, its almost inevitable that when the new one eventually comes along it will have to adhere by the standards set by the first one (in today's term only a modest screen size and a poor screen resolution) or abandon backwards compatibility completely and start anew.
I wasn't always opposed to the iphone, when it first came out i will admit, i though about getting one as well. I was ready to forgive it its many flaws at the time but today things are different. We have moved on to newer and better things and its up to apple to get of its lazy ass, stop bawwing and suing people (well, companies) and get back to work on developing a real replacement for the iphone because by all rights the current one should already be dead. If it weren't for the apple logo on it, everybody would have already moved on by now.
And since im picking on apple anyway...fuck the ipad! What the hell am i supposed to do with an internet tablet that doesn't support flash! Skip 50% of the web content? Fuck that!
Though im quite happy with my 80Gb iPod classic Cant pick on apple for everything they do, just when they deserve it |
Have you ever looked at any average iPhone users phone? What do they all have in common?
Applications. Hundreds of them, most of which are used on a regular basis.
Name me one other OS with such huge App support (despite the restrictions)?
The simple fact is that the iPhone sells because of the software, not because of the hardware. It's what you can ultimately do with the phone in the long run without needing to be a computer geek and Apple is undoubtedly still the best in terms of designing things for the masses.
EDIT - Oh you agree there. I probably shouldn't have skim read that big paragraph
