When I was visiting my girlfriend from high school in Tokyo, I was walking through this huge cemetery near her apartment. There were all these massive black crows in the trees, really creepy. Anyway, I was admiring this particularly interesting grave when I hear "Gaijin! Gaijin go, bochi!". This guy looked none too pleased with me and kept pointing at the exit of the cemetery, which I took to mean he wanted me out. At the time I knew no Japanese, so I asked my girlfriend later what he meant, and she told me he was saying "Get out of our graveyard, foreigner!". This was my first lesson in just how openly racist the Japanese are.
