It's nice to see you being perfectly honest and continuing to explain your view. This discussion is finally going somewhere

I'm still trying to work out where the added value comes from, though. For me, letting the music speak for itself is a far more interesting experience. I don't need the face of the DJ telling me how to feel.

I wonder how many people would cast their vote based on DJ sets in that poll.

Just a sense of respect towards the artist. I love thoe concept of producing (took 3 years of classes on it myself). When a dj starts off a producer and tests his music out by djing them (and if its good), i just feel good for that dj. I enjoy seeing the dj(producers) have fun seeing us enjoy the tracks while working them into other tracks by others. It is why i also love going to rock concerts and what not. When you see the producers performing, there is something there. But that is only if overall its good.

Oakie doesnt work and neither do tiesto and atb for me for example. Like the music (old oakie only) and when i try and support them when they play their stuff, it doesnt work for me because the setlist sucks.

As for dj sets, i dont really focus on the transitions as much in those either. I listen to the track itself. At times i get pissed off when you go to a club because transitions cut off some amazing parts of the track. Guess im just a track whore over mixing whore.

Mature or not trying to make my post seem like a genre battle is idiotic. Clearly it's useless to argue, because this moron just likes to see armin's pretty face on a stage and not care what he's doing behind the table, it can be an iTunes playlist of all Armin's tunes in the same BPM for all he cares.

Hey, whatever. Opinions are like noses, everyone has one, his just happens to be really ugly..

How many times did i say if the set sucks then it doesnt matter if they play their own tracks.

To me what goes on behind the decks that matters most above all is the tracklist selection. So if Armin plays a shitty set but plays some of his tracks, in the end, the entire set sucks. My focus is track selection over mixing. That is my point throughout this entire thing. Some prefer a good song here a bad song there but with super mixing. I like my djs to play non stop good tracks - no need all the time for the effects and long transitionts.

This doesn't contradict my post. You don't like all of Armins tracks? he can play ASOT 2007 on a cdj the whole night for all you know and you'll be happy. Now rethink that and think about how dumb your point of view is. Is that really DJ'ing to you??

edit: TOR, you're cool!

Your arguments make no fucking sense, they would if argued by someone else I think, but the way you "discuss" this issue is dumb.

From what I can gather from reading your stubborn ass posts is, if I were to steal PVD/Armin/Digweed's CD case(s) and play all their bombs I'd be just as good a DJ as them and merit your admiration and votes.

Yea if Armin played a set compiled around ASOT 2007 i would have no problem with it just as long as the order is changed around. I would have an amazing night. Love the tracks and have respect for armins productions. To me (and apparently the thousands of others who voted as well) feel the same.

Some are nit picky about mixing skills while some vote on who makes them dance the hardest.

Ya, a lot of people voted for President Bush too but that doesn't make them right.
