You'd love Capitol Hill in Seattle, then. The whole neighborhood is FULL of older buildings/houses/apartments, and is one of the reasons that I love that area so much. A hell of a lot of character down each street, and the community does a great job of keeping all of the old structures in good condition. Most buildings are at least 50-60 years old (the apartment complexes are primarily about 100 years old), and the unit I was living in until I moved to Georgia was from 1912 and had the inside remodeled while leaving the exterior the same. This was the outside of my basement-level apartment, with its own private entry so I never had to socialize with my (probably very nice) neighbors...
