on the topic of bogans, I tried setting my wireless lan ssid to "Inala_Centrelink" but it fucked up our internet so I had to change it back to the default one they gave us.
The thing I was looking forward to the most was choosing a wifi network name
Someone in my neighborhood has a wireless network named 'GAMGAMPOPPOP'. I bet they felt the same way about naming their network as you.

LOL my brother's theory is that Telstra saw it and thought "lol they don't need internet in Inala" and switched it off at the exchange

The sheer bogan-ness implied by Inala Centrelink means the internet simply cannot function in its presence.

Fuck, I almost broke into tears watching these videos:
A national news network broadcast them tonight as part of their "2011 Review" and they show 4 people dying. In the first video, a family is swept away by a flash flood (the two boys survived) and in the second, a restaurant blew up in Rio (gas leak) and they show a guy walking right in front of the establishment during the establishment (more people perished, but you can't see them). I'm usually quite indifferent to characters dying in films, but these images really shock me as they show the final moments of people you can actually see.
I almost started a thread about the first video asking if I'm the only person who can read the news and feel just a bit moved, whereas these shots really ruin my day/night... but it took me too long to write the damn thing.
Can anyone else relate to this?

I can relate a bit, actually.
Word of the Japan earthquake/tsunami hit the net pretty quick. I was online at the time and immediately googled it, and came up with a link for an actual live stream of the huge fucking wave flowing in and destroying everything in its path. Incredibly, incredibly disturbing to watch that live, let me tell you. My eyes were all teared up while I sat there just gaping at the computer screen.
I won't ever forget those images.
