well, in terms of accuracy it has a pitch step of .05% at +/_ 10% which is fine for me. Obviously not as good as the 1000, but better than most cd players. the platter isn't really lighter, its just looser. Looser as in if you turn it real fast it'll spin longer than the 1000, other than that its the same. I don't really notice the difference...I'm not really spinning it too hard to mix though, just gently pushing it forward or backward. I've owned both Denon's two top table top cd decks (5000, and 3000) and I personally like this one better in terms of the feel.
