yeah, honestly -
these kind of things have all of this wow/shock factor, and they are nice as poster children for gender essentialists, but as a person of the transgender experience who is involved in the community, i can tell you that every transgender person i've ever met has an amazing story, which may more not be as photogenic/stereotypical/conforming to the cissexist narrative as this, and to focus on that aspect of it sells them all quite short. |
Oh, for Christ's sake! My turn to be honest...
Did I say that (s)he was somehow more special than the rest of the community? Did I say that other people's stories were less amazing? Did I even mention the existence of other people? No, no, and no. Serves me right for insisting and sharing something I thought you'd find interesting when I know you tend to be prickly, but this is uncalled for!
Cissexist narrative? Are you bloody serious? You fucking call us "breeders" and somehow we're oversimplifying everyone's life in the transgender community because not every story focuses on every single aspect of the portrayed person's life? Cry me a river, I don't know if she had to change jobs, move to another town, or even if she now prefers to dunk her doughnuts in coffee with goat milk. That's how stories work, you can't tell everything at once, transgender or not!
And, by the way, while we're talking about "The Great Cissexist Conspiracy against Diversity and Freedom", I did catch me the other day joking about straight friends making a sex tape because they were both attractive so, going back to the very first time you went on a tirade about me being "prejudiced" against you and seeing the transgender community as somehow linked to prostitution, yeah, I would say that even if you were still a bloke. I did reflect about it and I can now say safely that, although I do make my mistakes and readily apologise for them, that one time it was just the chip on your shoulder.
Don't worry, not going to talk about it again with you. Not because I'm prejudiced, not because I'm not interested, but because this is too tiring for me to handle.

also, since you seem to be intrigued by the pronouns - it's her, across the board. this person is not male. the misgendering in the article is pretty bad too. |
No, I'm not intrigued by anything. Bloke? He. Bird? She. Used to be a bloke? He. Is now a bird? She. See? Easy.
