Just had a pretty LOL conversation with my diagonal neighbor up the back here, who I've never met before. They had some huge trees in their back yard cut down about two weeks ago, lots of chainsaws, etc.
Se saw me and said happy new year, and I said the same back. He apologised for all the noise for a couple of days, while they were getting rid of the trees, and I said "no probs mate".
I asked why they took out the trees, and he said "The house was in a shadow from them all day, and we want to put in solar panels on our roof, so we can save heaps off our electricity bill. We're really into green energy".
Apparently the solar panels will save him $5000 over the next few years, but he paid nearly $8000 to have the trees removed | i hate shit like that ... you try to do your part and be "green" or whatever, but the investment NEVER pays off for you. really, it'll pay off for the next person who buys the place from him. i'd totally buy a house with solar panels, that'd be awesome, but i'd never fork over the cash to have them installed myself .
