And that's why it's rubbish. If I'm in love/a relationship with someone, the state should listen and take our word for it. Hassle free. We already took of all that ourselves.
Sometimes I wonder if the law is written only by miserable people. |
Why is it rubbish? It is just a contract essentially, the same as any other. There is such things as common law marriages too, that are not voluntary in some places as well (in that if you have been a couple for X number of years you are now considered the same as a married couple), those might be more suitable to your tastes?
I think its important, especially in regards to child rearing. It provides a safety net for the children (ideally).

True enough for equality among sexual orientation, but surely you understand how the state has a vested interest in making sure those who are married are actually committed, at the very least in financial culpability. |
Hence why I said legal people must be miserable.
If people say they're together just to evade taxes, have joint bank accounts, or whatever, nothing stops them from telling the government they're married for the same reason - even when it's a blatant lie.

Yeah, I believe these laws are better. You're living together, you're married. Full stop, no hassle.
The amount of bureaucracy involved is overwhelming

A parent is a parent, I don't see why the legal system needs any more laws if you're already responsible for having brought someone into this world.

PKC is in Tasmania, if you were to compare it to how the US is laid out it'd be the Guam, not even the Hawaii of Australia.
For you UK folks, it'd be like Ascension Island, but more depressing.

I prefer the map where the island doesn't exist.
