What he did said about it?
Smething along the lines of - If he could give advice to new producers... try not to start off with such a huge track. He said it was a blessing but it was also bad at the same time since it was hard to live up to Mistral.

However, EDM seems to be political for some people - it's not about the music itself but it's about what the music symbolises, where the music came from, who spins it and how obscure it is.

Still one of the best things that ever came out on the ASOT label.
Agreed, massive tune. If only he was still around... RIP

One thing I just can't figure out is why the End of Year mixes from like 2006, 2007, and 2008 are just so god awful. And it isn't just because of the lack of music, there are many other people out there who make really enjoyable yearmixes with more current music.
Armin just loops outro beats for the yearmixes in 2006/2007/2008, theres nothing to them, rubbish really.

There was a very obvious trend in those yearmixes for him to have outro beats + acappella of vocal track for almost every transition possible.
I suppose that it is also a reflection of the direction ASOT has gone since 4 years ago - more vocal and radio friendly to grab the casual listener.
And this remix of Southern Sun has always been so incredibly overrated. G&D did a far superior job imo.
