Soooo... I think Oakenfold will be playing July 3rd... just not at Ruby... I was looking at the 1015 website, and was surprised to see him there.....

If you don't want a long ass drought of Markus in San Francisco again, you all better show up to Ruby with all your friends and make sure there's a good solid turnout so we don't have to suffer another year+ of missing out on him.

there is really no decision to be made, markus is so much better.
we saw oakey last july at the fillmore with kenneth thomas and enjoyed kt more. oakey played some nice tunes from back in the day, like greece 2000, but his programming blew and his mixing was just 'okay'. then right on cue he ran off the stage making sure not to play a second beyond his slot time.
later that night we went to ruby to see deep dish and low and behold oakey was hanging out on stage just chillin out now that his mandator 'dj act' at the fillmore was completed.

I don't see why it would be such an issue to get people to see Markus Schulz here in SF. He was the most requested DJ to play at ASOT 300 a few months back, and also he is the #19 most 'popular' DJ :P (DJ MAG POLL).
Anyways, I will rally the troops up for this... It looks like I will have 10+ peeps attending with me. If Markus plays like he has been on GDJB lately, then I am going to be in proggy heaven

i don't think it's fair to blame the mezzanine night on markus' demand. first off he'd been kind of overexposed playing 4 times in that year stretch iirc, second he was competing against the newly crowned #1 pvd who plays the same prog trance sound and third mezzanine as a venue doesn't have the appeal 1015 or ruby does for that kind of crowd/music. i think these 3 factors combined played a huge role in people's decision that night.
another issue was i dunno about other people, but for me i hate it when mezz places the dj booth on that corner stage as opposed to the center stage. it's fine for live shows, but dj sets work much better on the center stage. that could have contributed to the lack of vibe and the thinning of the crowd. people DID show up that night, they just didn't stay
