I warned you to just stop. ANd I wasn't warning you to stop because I disagreed with you (because I do), but more because if that's the way you feel and no one else does, continugint to argue back and forth is pointless.

And it is. Because no one is going to agree that the other has won this argument....so this can end up being 80 pages of saying the same thing over and over again w/o getting anywhere.

So again, just stop. Just so everyone else will stop to!

Technically, RJT and all you other whiners are right, it is a DJ poll. However, seeing as there isn't a recognised poll for producers or any real way of recognising their efforts, I don't have a problem with people voting for them. After all, for the most part producers are more highly skilled and work harder.

Then make a producers poll and stop screwing up the DJ polls.

Record sales and the fact that DJ's play their records are enough recognition in my eyes.

I know I'm not the only one here who's tired of seeing half-ass producers make an even more half-assed attempt at DJ'ing and succeeding solely due to the fact that the idiots don't know any better.

woulda been nice if Roland Klinkenberg made the list, saw him back in June at Turnmills and he was seriously seriously good. Absolutely killed it that night. Hard to find any recordings of his stuff though.

Bodzin started djing like half a year ago. Even considering people voted for him because of his single releases won't change anything. He started to make music under his own name pretty much in 2006 (well, in December 2005), so there was no chance he could had been up there earlier.

This whole issue is blown way out of proportion.

To set things straight:

1. Nobody - and I mean nobody - is meticulously analyzing each transition when having a night out. The point is that there's a lot more to DJ'ing than just playing one track after another. If that was not the case, you might as well burn a bunch of tracks on CD and listen to them in the car. Structure does matter, technical skill does matter.

2. People go to an event primarily to have fun and to hear good music. Whether or not the DJ produced the records, is irrelevant. It always has been and always will be. A DJ is not a pop idol. A DJ who does not produce can achieve the exact same effect on the dancefloor as a DJ who does.

I'd be interested to know whether you'd place a DJ that plays average tracks by himself above a DJ that throws the most amazing nights playing records produced by other people.

See i woudnt be able to answer that one. I go to events to support the tracks i like from the producers. And even though when they dj them in fornt of a crowd it isnt the best mixing, i cheer on the tracks they produce. I see producers when they dj as "pop star". No not idolize bullcrap like followers of tiesto and shit (i think tiesto sucks but not relevant), but in support of having them continue to produce those tracks. Yea record sales show this and artists can be fine with just that, but seeing the guy/guys who made the track adds a feeling for me i dont get when seeing just a person messing behind the decks. So yea, an average night is going to a club to dance to a dj who doesnt produce and just plays tracks (be it master skills on the decks or just fades), but when i truly support someone its seeing the person behind the song. I know being a skilled dj requires a lot of work and skill ( i dj and love to do so), but when it comes down to paying 40 dollars for an amazing dj who doesnt produce but is skilled at mixing vs a producer who isnt the best at djiing but has great track productions along with other good songs in the set, id see the second.

For instance, take armin. When he plays other tracks that arnt his people just dance and cheer a little if they recognize the track, but when he drops one of his own, be it old or new, people go nuts to show support for the production. THat is what i love about seeing producers dj at clubs.

Not every event is like that, though. I still stand by my point that a DJ who does not produce can achieve the exact same effect on the dancefloor as a DJ who does.
