I want to have a Jewish wedding but my fiancé is not really fond of the idea. I told her I'm 0.8% Jewish but that's apparently not enough. I then tried to persuade her that Japan is one of the lost tribes of Israel, to no avail. I'm running out of arguments, and all I want is to smash some glass and do the chair dance thingy.
Never mind the shmollocks...
Hey, it's your wedding too. If you want to smash glass and chair-rave, you should be allowed to. Doesn't have to be Jewish!

That's what I think, but I need to do some convincing here... she's worried it can mean something I don't know.

if neither of you are religious its a bit blasphemous, maybe she thinks you'll be struck down by god!

Yeah, Yahweh is not really fond of mindless fun, I know that - He doesn't seem to like first-borns very much either, so I should try to keep a low profile here
Still, I'm not sure stomping on glasses and being carried around in a chair counts as blasphemy though. It's not like I'm going to say anything in Hebrew or invite a rabbi

Yahweh approves of stepping on first-borns.

haha, well I'm sure those things they do have some religious purpose right? If you do religious things for non-religious, or anti-religious reasons its probably some kind of blasphemy...

As far as I can tell, there's nothing religious about those things. Or breaking plates.
That'd be awesome too!

Surely you've got some Greek in you, Marcus? That means you can break plates!

I've got ancestors both from Italy and Syria... and both places have been in touch with Greece for quite a while, so I must have some Greek blood!
And I know Greecians approve of randomness:

yep, this is the source of the problem, and why i always avoided all group-work, and group-based assignments. its better to do twice the work than to get stuck with a bunch of idiots who just went to uni because they could, or because its just the 'normal' thing to do these days...
its nice that money isnt as much of a barrier to getting to go to university these days, but it sucks wang that so many people go without any reason for being there.
Ummm... how do you avoid group work if the assessment is group work
