Roland JV, Nord, RME interface, Focals, you're ready for some real nice moodfull productions now. I bet you can hear "the love vibe" when using your gear, it's that step where you suddenly go from the quite ok sound to the wow phreaking lovely this sounds sound.....

This is the room i am currently about to build.
Its not to scale, as i am still learning the software that does the drawing.
All the bass traps/diffusion will be built by me (unless i can find a thai guy to do it really cheap).

Should be an interesting project

Mark

SoundMagus, did you calculate the size of the helmholtz, or is it just random? which frequencies are you attacking with that?
What's the size of the room? looks quite big, or did u just draw the desk very small?

Evo8 - Yeah the more the merrier, alhtough a lot of those are actually diffusion/defraction as well as absorption (the yellow bits are GLASS :O).

Raphie - I havent calculated anything yet. I will be doing full measurements when i move in on the 8th of June.
I just got my measurement mic today and i will be using REW to make all calculations and measurements and putting/placing defraction/diffusion and absorption (as well as a cloud) in the appropriate areas

Mark

If you've got a Behringer EMC8000 non calibrated, use the generic CAL file and don't worry too much about above 10K as it probably rolls of more on the graphs than IRL

hey do any of you guys know how to use REW properly??? I cant for the life of me get it set up right - i was using a demo version of fuzzmeasure before but the nag screens are getting annoying

I remember in the setup menu it said to make sure the MIC input was peaking around -18dbfs whilst the program played thru a white noise burst
I found i was having to push the mic gain really high, almost to the edge of a nasty feedback loop, im a bit scared to run a full sweep thru with the mic that high, does it need to be set that high - im assuming its to bring it above background noise???

correct, it's a delicate balance between playing volume and mic input volume, play first 75db from 1 speaker (or 83db from 2 in parallel) and then adjust your mic input to read about -20db or so don't need to go all the -18, as long as you are in the "OK" zone

Raphie - I tried to get the EMC 8000 but they are discontinued so i settled on a Peavey PVR 2.

It arrived here in Thailand from the UK which arrived there from Germany.

It DOESNT FUC##'G work!! I am totally pi##ed off as this now means i need to send back to uk, then it needs to be sent back to Germany then the whole process needs to start again, damn what a nightmare lol

Mark

PS - First time i have received ANYTHING from a company which is completely DEAD - it seems weird to me but there you have it.

Raphie - Hahahaha yeah its on lol

5 Years education in Music Tech and 5 years as a sound engineer, music production teacher, producer, mastering engineer and all round techy guy would have seemed like such a waste if that was the problem, mic is dead UNLESS i have 2 dead cables, will try a third today and see whats what.
