The resonant filter that opens into the main saw melody is slightly old fashioned, needs a bit of a tweak so it's not so standard.

Could be a big sounding piece if done right. Nice mix.

Really appreciate the feedback on my track guys, VERY useful.
On balance it seems the organ has to be killed and replaced by something more interesting. I deliberately tried to find an old boring small chapel organ as I wanted this to be a foil / contrast for the much more interesting piano part that comes after.

But I don't want people to turn off the track right away due to a depressing organ sound so I will address this.

Droidika - that's a good point about the lack of clarity in the vocals, maybe time to layer them up with a less affected version but I'm terrified this will cause me to loose the mix balance I've got.

Cheers again!

Having browsed the last 10 or so pages...this one stood out [to me]. Quite liked the vibe and energy. Can tell quite a bit of work went into this. Liked the subtle filter work in the mid-section.

Hard to judge the mixes coming from soundcloud. I'd like to think the mid to high end sounds much cleaner at 320+ bitrate, sans soundcloud compression.

good stuff.

I'm entering a remix contest. I don't want to commit to a mixdown without some kind of feedback: does this track work? It's aimed at being pretty oldschool epic and dreamy, hypnotic and emotional. Any thoughts?

First thing I noticed, bass needs to be compressed. Then I realized your whole mix needs to be tamed. Also your reverb settings aren't correct.

Okay. Reverb is incorrect in what way? Does the structure work?

The percussion is virtually nonexistent, which makes the track drag badly.

In a way that it doesn't sound like you removed the low frequencies from it. It overpowers your mix. And I suppose you're using a single reverb for the whole instrumentarium. You'd generally need at least two verbs with different decay times.
And remember, reverb isn't mandatory for every element of your track.

You mean the arrangement? It's a personal choice.

Some nice floatey sounds and melody work here. It would benefit from ducking the synths more to let the rhythm section through better as it is a bit far back.

I quite like the verb and bass myself.

I would like to thank you for your feedback, and I would like to suggest that making assumptions might be counterproductive. Not everything is reverbed, and you suppose extremely incorrectly. As for the arrangement, yes it is a personal choice, but I am directly asking for opinions on whether it works.

Yeah I'm going to have to do something about that. It's the bassline that came with the remix, unfortunately. Do you have any ideas of what may sound better? I think it's the actual sound itself that's not working well, as opposed to the pattern, but I'm not sure.

Yeah, you're right, I didn't pay much attention to the percussion. Shall remedy that.

Thanks everyone!

Dont like when it goes to G, C to E is nice, try and keep it simple

Drums are way too far back in the mix, you need to fix that first
