Got to worry about the business model that uses "group papers" in any part of its structure in the first place... is there any practical application of it in a real world role?

Well actually, while we don't write papers in the clinical setting - being able to collaborate on compiling and presenting research is very much applicable to the real world....especially if some of use pursue advanced practice nursing or end up in the high ranks of our organization.
I don't mind really. The last group paper I was part of we got 99.45% or something like that, lol.

Don't get it, I'd collect and collate staff opinions fairly frequently, vet them for content and then pass it onto upper level management with recommendations for improvement.
But no one would be getting sent home to write up '500 words or less' and have it on my desk tomorrow rubbish!

Hahah yeah. It's really just about pursuing political action and advancing the profession. I dunno if my career will take me that route, but I'd still like to be prepared for it in case it does.

Mind you this is probably half the reason why I've not sent myself off for higher education, I'd end up fighting with teachers over theoretical vs practical applications in business management.

No you wouldn't. You would learn to pick your battles like the rest of us.

I'm usually a 100% of all groups I have to be part of, and I've always been commended for the good work.

In Australia, we call that "Tall poppy syndrome".

What makes you think I'm not politically and socially astute? If I wasn't well aware of my own and others limitations I certainly wouldn't have gotten where I am today.
However, I am viciously critical of impractical learning activities that have no/limited bearing on a task based occupation. They are simply time wasters and better applied when the occupation modus itself changes, instead of being a distraction to the current one.

Well for one you've just proven how sensitive you can be
I'm the same as you, but there's just some people that you shouldn't even bother with because it's pointless. As for unnecessary work, well that's just a part of life as much as we may hate it. Nowhere more so than uni, but you have little power to change that.
