a buddy of mine had told me that he hadn't seen his family in near 3 years. it got me thinking. i realized today, as a younger cousin of mine added me as a friend on facebook, i haven't seen my dad's side of the family since they split.
my folks originally split like 2 days before i left for active duty. it wasn't until just this past september that the divorce was actually finalized. in any case, its been since that graduation party i had before i took off that i last saw everyone.
that was 4 years ago.
my younger cousin is 8 years younger than me...her birthday is halloween; and so this year she'll be 20. last time i saw her i think she had just entered high school or something. and now she's graduated and gone to college. other cousins of mine i have no idea what they're really doing at all other than random facebook updates and stuff.
the irony is that all my cousins on my dad's side i used to be closer with, because they were all so much closer in age. my mom's side, i'm the youngest by at least 3 years. in fact my oldest cousin on my mom's side is 41 i think now. but ever since this divorce thing i've really kind of put my whole dad's side of the family on the way side, until really about the past 12 months or so jsut with random facebook chats.
i really need to change this.
