There are a few events websites in Japan do exactly this where the promoter fills out a form for those details and it gets automatically posted. It worked super well.

Crowd-sourced is the way to go as opposed to one person keeping track of a ton events. I've done that in the past for the DC scene, posting a calendar of every EDM event I knew of in a given week but the promoter automatically posting to a calendar is way more sustainable.

I think the issue is there are many diff sites out there w/o hundreds of thousands of subscribers where stuff is posted already.

I think that last rendition of the site was hoping for that, but few promoters participated.

Gotta remember, this is them doing it on their personal time. It's an extension of a calendar that started right here on TA. Something that wil take a bit of dedication and they are trying to give it some again. The thing about the SF party thread is that what's on there is filtered, so it's the best parties in the city. It won't waste your time. This is the big benefit sfedm.com carries over. There are a lot more events posted on there regularly, yes, but there's a lot of garbage nights around the city that we don't have to see blasted all over the site either. The way I see it, if it's on there, then they (basically reps of a true local EDM community) can see if it's worth it for a certain audience's time. And it's easy to read.

If what's on there is controlled by submitters in any way in the end, it won't take long before they starting doing crazy things with the headliners to try to make eye-catching, but be more annoying than anything and spam the place. Pre-approving submissions before it goes live is a good idea, but again I thin they tried this before. And it takes someone to curate it all so it doesn't look like a mess on the site.
