Yeah, you guys are right, sorry, i didn't mean to come of as a snob because of my preference for techs.
they are great decks, but, as has been said, there are others that are very good as well. notably vestax, and gemini's are OK too.
I'll tell you a little story about a dude i know name "dj wicked" he has 2 "turntables" actually, i think that you would call them record players more precisely. i think one is a sony, and one is a pioneer or something, they don't have pitch control, they might even be belt driven, i'm not sure.
he also has a mixer he got from radio shack, with just a crossfader and volume knobs, the thing hardly works.
anyway, one day he invited me over to "spin" and i showed up and just laughed.
I decided that day, i would get tech12s, and that would be all i would settle for.
but, to each his own, and i mean no disrespect to shock wav or u4ea, or anyone else who doesn't have techs.
hell, i am thinking of buying a numark TTX1 for a 3rd deck, so.. yeah..
anyway, that crow was tasty!

you being snobish ?
vestax and gemini are not just ok
actually gemini blows if you're talking real shit ....
Vestax is defenitely a real alternative....
but let us not forget ... most improvments these days are made to please to the scratch dj market with , straight arms for example ....

what about the new numarks, look really smooth, have some very cool options, switchable tonearm, and you can swictch around the pitch bar, even cost more then tech, so at least numark thinks they are worth something
Anyone had a chance to play around with them? like look pretty nifty
