Let's Get Crunk goes down THIS SATURDAY!!
It got the A-List treatment on City Pages:
"Tonight we will become the essence of what jaded elitists despise about Top 40 DJs," Eccentric Beats website proprietor Phil Martinez told me recently. He's organized an event to relieve the Minneapolis dance music scene of its posturing, if only for one night. "Let's Get Crunk" corrals a dozen dance-music DJs in one club, and calls on them to play all the dirty south tracks they secretly bang in their cars but won't let near their crates on a regular gig. Tonight, they've got the green light to put the "Wait" remix on repeat (not really) and get hyphy till dawn--well, at least until the suburban chicks in Baby Phat tanks and too much lip liner run out of crunk juice. "Crunk for us means watching people get crazy and wild, not caring about what people think of them on the dance floor," said Martinez. "Do I think the hip-hop kids will come out for this? No, but kids dressed in Polo driving their mom's Escalades will." With Nik E. Gunz, Phil Good, Jonathan Ackerman, Peter Styles, Ryan Simatic, Moksha and DJ Mixican, Hart Thompson, DeeJWood, Dry Bean, Asmosis, the SIM Bikini Team.
