No I haven't. It's called understanding people and why they act out, and if you're attuned to that you can avoid those situations altogether. You must not be very good at your job if patients are attempting to hit you all the time.
And currently I work with seniors, which includes some very demented people, and I've never had an issue with violence/aggression with them. Not even Lewy Body's clients.
Again, your bag, not mine. Not everyone experiences burn out.
It isn't really very professional to take shit personally. There's always a reason people get pissed/upset/whatever. And it's not about you having your little shit fit because of it. Nursing is about getting over yourself and being in tune with others. |
its not about how you present yourself, narcism's talking about how you feel.
if you've never had a patient whose pissed you off you most likely havn't had much, or any experience in nursing. Its not about being a good nurse, its about having emotions.
if you're incapable, or beyond feeling shit, i would suggest YOU are a bad nurse. Nurses generally have high levels of emotional intelligence and empathy, which is what makes them want to go into nursing. this is a double edged sword though of course since it means you're more likely to get upset.
If you've never had a shit patient, or been upset, or annoyed at a patient, you've not had much experience.
its not about burnout, or being jaded, its about being a human being and handling, instead of repressing your emotions.
