i See Darek removed his track well i thought it was quite refreshing and innovative in terms of structure, the sounds used were a bit common and maybe i'd take the chance to make something more risky and innovative but not really big issues here.

@Wayn0 i see you are good with melodies, the track has the potential, i don't know what do you expect of this track. I generally make club music with deep bass and hard kicks maybe you expect something different but right now as it is it's a good idea that it's not developed in an effective way. You need a present bass to give the groove and some shakers/hat lines, i like the sounds you have used but if you want it to make danceable synths should be "bigger" if you know what i mean. Track at this point it's a pleasurable listen but that's it if you wish people to listen calmly at home then i'd use a different and softer kick to let the melodical parts breathe and have more space.

@Juan Paulino: Melodically sounds better, the first part it's not bad, i don't like that much breakdown onwards i think you should forget about this track and move to something else this tune is quite flat and i've heard better stuff from you, you seem stuck and i've been on this point several times, it's better to throw the project to the trash bin or leave it and don't think of it like XX hours wasted but, simply as a training, i think this track will never be good, you are ofuscated and are treating some elements like core things when you should indeed delete them and forget about it.

Start a new project this will harm you more than would benefit.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

About my new track i think bass is quite heavy i still have not played it loud but guess should be effective well who knows...

About the keys: Bass is in C#m combined with an E Major which should sound fine theoretically. The note you talk about it's indeed a percussion which should be harmonically neutral but well maybe it's playing atonal for me sounds ok.

"Melodies" are simple as i said i make club music this is indeed maybe too melodical, i see you are more trance minded, i understand you miss something but this should be fine without any real melodies for the audience this is oriented.

Thank you for your opinion will try it and see anyway

Ok, It's just difficult to comment on melody because I wouldn't want to get in the way of someone thinking outside of the box, perhaps making something that is intended to be outside of conventional chord relationships.

So, my comments really are intended at the very least to identify where the notes go outside of what generally sounds 'right' :-)

Intro 0:00 - 0:55, all at F, high F. Fine - really like it :-)

Bass comes in 0:56 - 1:23. Fine - sounds right.

Lead 'swell' lets call it, 1:24 - 2:33, again like this, sounds fine.

Top Arp 2:33 onwards. This is the first bit that doesn't sit well in my opinion.

When this kicks in you are effectively picking out one note in the chords (bottom note first) 'F,A#,D' and 'F,A,C'. You select D and C. I think here it falls too far away from the core F and you might benefit from either using the middle notes in the chord A, A# there or at least doubling up so that you are using 'D,A#' and 'C,A' to keep more of a link.

Well I would continue but I just read Rodri's comment and must agree, though I would say start out from 2:33 onwards and take it in a different direction, as all that I would have said from this point on is that 'if the previous note had been X then Y would work here' and it gets too involved :-)

Again, sorry if thats too invasive of your tune but that is how I hear it :-)

Wayne

Thankyou very much for the constructive words, what do you mean by this please? "i don't know what do you expect of this track". In general i see this track as middle of the road easy listening, nothing to grab people in a big way, an album track if you like lol, just something I want to finish as it's not terrible.

I see something like this as a bit more appealing and likely to turn in to something better

Got lost of random stuff like that saved up I just always hit a wall right about here with all my tracks :-(

I have the same issues as many a producer, where it's so hard to translate the sounds in my head on to 'paper'.

Wayn0! You just gave me the best review I ever got, thanks man you rock!

Yeah its my first 140 BPM finished work so yeah I'l either save when I'm better or just cast it aside. I'm no pro, i know that for a fact hehe, far from it.

Rodri thanks for letting me know about the track. I will take your thoughts into consideration.

I mean if you want it to be an underground club track, commercial club track, radio...

If you wish it to be a chill album track is fine as it is, just bass + some subtle hats and should be ready.

To be honest, I have no idea, I just want to make music that people listen to!

well where a lot of producers fail is on this point you have to know what's your audience and where you want to go, if you want to support a dj career with your productions you should produce similar music to what you want to play and a club track, nowadays, needs to have some core elements to work on the dancefloor, and meet some standards if you want other djs to support it.

Being honest very few people listen to hard edge minimal at home so if your distribution and your networking is oriented towards home listening you are producing the wrong genre in a wrong way. People usually prefer something more eclectic, experimental, melodic and i can assure you that this exact stuff would clean the dancefloors in a minute.

Take Juan Paulino's track for example, that kick is good for a club, to listen at home even though it sits well on the mix you'd probably prefer something more subtle that let's you hear the pads and the arps more clearly. Or simply if you are that kind of guy that picks his headphones and read a book meanwhile, hearing "boom boom boom booom" it's a bit intrusive. On the other hand just hearing a little clip, mainly for rythmic purposes seems to suit more.

Also and this is not stupid, you should consider the reproduction method, if you are making cheesy commercial tunes most people would listen to 128kbps mp3s on cheap earplugs so.... if your best elements are a deep sub bass at 25hz and the crispness of your synths at 15khz+ your music won't shine.

I generally listen to my tunes with cheap earplugs and see if the bass is noticeable on them or not, i am not mixing with them i just want to ensure that the track is playable both in high end audio equipment and also in the worst case scenario

Ok I take your point, but I kinda see it the other way around (wrongly or rightly) i will make what I love and then it will fall into whatever category it happens to fit :-)

Ideal world though, I would want to produce big tunes to play in a club, what I want is that hands up eyes closed emotional moment :-)
