Of trance djs only folk like John Askew really change their set drastically on a daily basis, but thats cuz he recieves so much music with it. Even someone like JOOF plays that same tunes quite a lot and he is as progressive as it gets. |
I finished reading Oakenfold's book last week (really recommended read if you can pick it up), where it talks about his career from the very beginning right through to him producing film scores.
In his days of being a resident at Cream where he played every week, he played the exact same set, and would only add in one or two new tunes each time. That was one of the absolute magical periods of trance, but there's not a chance in hell he would have been able to do it if the internet and online radio shows were so prominent.
Then you have situations where if you have a hot new production, it's recorded by someone live in a club and it's on YouTube the next day for everyone to see.
Sign of the times I guess.
