Wow, what an amazing party it was...
Qiev Dance is a yearly event here in Kiev, Ukraine. It's concept is quite unique: it takes 2 nights, and the venue (a big hall called Palace of Sports) has 4 stages with different styles of electronic music. This year there was a Drum and Bass stage, VIP stage with lounge/pop music, a tiny Techno/Electro stage, and of course the largest Mainstage.

The headliners were Pendulum and Micky Finn for DnB, Zoo Brasil and Azzido da Bass for techno stage, and a quite unusual mix of styles for the Mainstage: Freestylers, Karl Bartos, Giuseppe Ottaviani, Astral Projection, Misja Helsloot and Ron van den Beuken. The latter two did not make it to the event, although both nights were more than complete even without them

About 5,000 party people showed up, the event didn't sell out but the mainstage was looking quite filled.

All trance sets were excellent. Giuseppe Ottaviani played almost 2 hour set live on his Ableton, dropping all his new productions as well as the best Nu NRG hits, finishing the set with Supersonic and Dreamland... It was purely emotional!!!

Astral Projection were great as well, they played all the new material except the last 3 tracks (People Can Fly, Aurora Borealis and Mahadeva), of which just the part will be released on their new album coming up in 2007, as they told me... I must say their sound has evolved a bit, became deeper and a bit closer to progressive, while it still carries their trademark goa atmosphere at 140bpm and more.

But definitely the highlight of the festival was Sander van Doorn, who literally tore all the audience to pieces... Man, what a set this was! Tiesto was right, with a buildup of the set like he does, his attitude and the crowd reaction, Sander definitely deserves to be in the world top ten to say the least! I haven't seen a single negative response about his set on all ukrainian forums and blogs. It was simply amazing!
