Read This! when a hardware newbie askes... reason+hardware?

Hi!

well, let me introduce myself to you at first
i am mixing and producing for about 2 years now.

my current music tool is reason 2.5! i get along with that quite good so far, but i am not satisfied with the sound quality of the synths. they are too thin or sound to digital, not warm enough although i added reverbs, filters etc.

so my question is: is it possible to run a hardware synth like the roland jp 8080 or anything like that with reason 2.5 ?
i wanna combine reason with hardware.
or is it just possible to add a keyboard midi controller?

and if it is possible, which soundcard do you recommend me (for about 100-200 €) ?
... because i don't have a real midi input at the moment.

and what hardware synth do you recommend me? anything good and less expensive than the roland jp 8080? other roland products? or clones?!

or do i have to learn to work with cubase or prologic. i want to circumvent this, cuz i'm lucky to handle reason (and all my produced stuff is saved as *.rns) *G*

thank you for your support!

If im not mistaken, reason doesnt work with hard synths. This is really just a guess. You might need to start using Logic. yuck...

If you don't like the Reason synths, why not start using some VSTs ? Absynth, FM7, Pro-53, Atmosphere, Mercury 1, Junglist are all really great synths.

I think you can wire up hardware synths with the MIDI Out... this appears at the top of your rack. I really have no idea how it works since I don't own any hardware myself but you should have a few PDF files in your reason group that explain it... I would help you more but I erase everything off my computer the other day and still haven't reinstalled everything.

I don't think reason supports VSTs..

reason only has midi in, so if you want to control external synths you should rewire with cubase or logic...

ok, thank you guys!

so i got to learn the cubase stuff. i hope my knowledge about reason helps me to get into cubase easier.
i already read the thread about VSTs. very interesting! good work

do those VSTs include soundbanks? stupid question i guess, but hey.. ^^

is it possible to extract my reason soundbank so i can take some waves samples at least with cubase?

still the question is: which soundcard do you recommend me *g*

erm... i don't think i ever heard anyone say that reason 2.5 supports VST, so you are the first to say this! so explain how it works, how can anyone add VST's without ReWire (which also works in 2.0)?

and warrior1503: you don't have to copy your reason soundbanks, rewire works in a different way: both programs run at the exact same time and speed, so the sounds you sequenced in reason and the sounds you sequenced in cubase will both be heard...
