you will be fucking up your body probably but probably not as much as what alcohol or cigarettes will do to you. dieing from them is pretty rare..your most likely to die if you have an allergic reaction to them, but the chances of you having this are less then the chances youl have an allergic reaction to peanuts. one thing you could do is to get an e-testing kit, so at least you know that it is mdma your taking. although not physically addicitive, also be aware that once you start taking pills, its pretty likely that youll try other drugs somewhere down the line, so maybe this is something you should also think about?

as for your mates, my school mates were quite the same when i told a couple that i started doing pills. think they saw me as a bit of a junkie even though they smoked weed. soon drifted apart from them though, and found new mates. end of the day youll never know till you have a go

this is what i hate about 'education'.

take me as a prime example. i have taken pills and MDMA powder for over 4 years (as well as things that ARE actually really bad for you like speed and base). i am not dead, nor am i addicted.

the fact of the matter is, if you get things from the right places, it is probably less damaging to you than smoking. you do however need to look after yourself a bit more, i.e. making sure you drink enough/don't drink too much, or making sur eyou don't over-heat. if you have any kind of heart problems don't do it as it can adversly effect any problems that are already there, such as a heart murmur or an irregular heartbeat.

just be sure to take it easy, start off only doing halves, then work it up to a full one the next time or something, just to get a baseline of how much it affects you. it is generally different from person to person, but taking half a pill will not kill you, unless you have the misfortune of being allergic to it, which as mentioned is very very, very unlikely.

it will probably change your life, or at least your outlook on life. it did me. if you don't want to lose your mates, dont tell them about it

mdma based on personal experience:

.you are unlikely to die
.take it easy especially at first, once ur honeymoon's over it's over.
.if you do it be careful about water intake and overheating.
.don't be stupid about waving them in front of people the police can fuck you up as much as the drugs.
.be wary that with the highs come lows.... prolonged once weekly use WILL alter your mindset and you will become more emotionally eratic.
.take regular breaks.. don't do it week after week after week.
.your friends have a right to be concerned, all drugs are harmful in their own ways, some more than others.
.know your dealer!!
.if they start interfering with your day to day life STOP.. it's not worth fucking up for.

Basically it's all common sense, know your limits and be sensible.

I have become increasingly disallusioned with pills recently yet I don't regret the times that i've had on them.... just wish i'd been a bit more reserved maybe. When it starts making you uber depressed then it's time to stop, and yes there is a huge noticable difference in how your mind works after a month of no drugs and when you've been doing drugs for the past 4 weekends.

The situation that i had then, was never really resolved, instead, the subject was never really approached again, and we just "got on" rather than being good friends. She has since "disowned" a lot of other friends for our habits and moved to australia...we haven't really missed out on anything. Of course that is my point of view.

the education of the public via the government and media is disgusting propaganda. Notice how if anyone dies from a cocaine "overdose" there is hardly any news coverage from it, yet (i recall) when some girl tripped and fell down some stairs hit her head and died, and happened to have done a pill or two, the media was all over it with "OMFGz0rZs!!! MDMA Killed this girl!!!111!" Had she been drunk, it would have been just another accident.

As mixmag once said, the media approach is wrong. They were not asking the media to condone ecstasy usage...instead with each "death" article, they suggested tips on how to prevent possible harm (eg water, keep cool etc) as they argued that these death articles were not having their suggested effect (i.e it would suddenly scare everyone into not taking it) Mixmag is right, these death articles are not dissuading current users, and remember any publicity is better than no publicity

The effects of alcohol and nicotine/tobacco are infinitly worse than MDMA. Nicotine is the MOST addicitve substance known to man, more so than even crack cocaine and heroin. tobacco is carcinogenic and has many associated breathing problems.

Alcohol, in moderation, isn't too much of a strain on the body.but lots of drink poses more strain on the body overall than a pill. This is evident as it takes one hour to process 25ml of alcohol, but mdma is metabolised a lot quicker , which is evident in the fact that pills last a couple of hours. Brainwise, alcohol and mdma probably have the same effect of degenerating neurons, so why do people draw the conclusion that MDMA is "oh so lethal and bad?"

This refers back to the media and government teachings that it is bad. People don't know the truth about it, all that they know is that it is "bad" because they have been "told" it is "bad"

Matter of the fact is, if alcohol and nicotine/tobacco were discovered today, they would be made VERY illegal due to the health risks.

Amphetamines were legal up until the late 1960's! MDMA was made illegal as the blanket term "amphetamines" also covered it. However, pharmacologists today show that although they have a similar stucture to amphetamines, they do not have the same effects.

Basically, your mate is too closed minded. To prove that you won't die do it at a party with him or something. To prove that you won't become a junkie, all you need to do is continue normal life, go to uni, socialise whatever. over time maybe he will see that you will not have changed in the drastic manner that he predicted.
