Dave King - Breaks For Sally [Breakbeat of various flavours]

My girlfriend has been complaining that shes been listening to the same music for aages so yesterday I decided to put together a mix of her favourite type of music, breaks.

I just hit record without musch forward planning so its not perfect but I'm pretty happy with it. It takes in some funky stuff, some nu-skool stuff, some dub flavoured bad boy stuff, some acid, well, you get the picture.

Probably best listened to loud

Gave it a listen, but this stuff doesn't really work for me on the headphones. I'd enjoy hearing this set in a club, and the mixing and flow were as tight as usual from you.

proper intro only a dozen minutes in and loving it already. no idea on the dates of these tracks, but they sound oldschool, atleast thats the vibe they give to me quite enjoyed the more bass heavy tracks. mixing was good. glad u went into 4x4 after ;D. so all in all, a lot of this wasnt my cup of tea but some of it definitely was. i havent really paid much attention to breaks so i cant comment too much on flow. ill try to listen to some more mixes around here from now on.

What a fun set. Flow was very consistent, and you kept your promise as you introduced lots of different flavors without losing any energy. I will agree with SYSTEM-J that headphones don't quite do this music justice, especially wack ass earbud headphones. I'd much prefer this on a big sound system where the bass is raping me. I loved the heavy tracks, the high energy ones, and the ones that had lots of psychedelia. Far Too Loud's track was great here. I didn't like the last two tracks as much as the rest, though, I felt you could have ended on a bit of a stronger note. I didn't really care for the guitar in the last track. Other than that, super cool. I enjoyed it a lot, and will likely listen again! Thanks, Dave, good stuff again.

Cheers for the comments guys, glad you all liked it.

Understand the comments about it needing to be played in a club, its very much dancing music. Will be happy to come play this stuff if you can provide me with a club hehe

Ziptnf, the ending was about half an hour too soon. I had envisaged about 4 or 5 more tracks after that LuQas remix however, my hangover hit me hard and I had to go sit down lol

It might just be because I'm a bit emotional recovering from being batfaced for 4 days straight, but this basically saved what would have otherwise been a very painful 2 hour drive home at rush hour.

The whole thing is proper bumpin' and I loved it that it just seemed to carry on and on. I probably had a little cry when it finally finished.

You sir have a knack for finding awesome records and plugging them together in a superb way which is pretty much second to none. SECOND TO NONE.

So give yourself a pat on the back.
