Magadansky - Samothrace Mysteries [Oldschool Mixes]

Hi everyone, we are back to the roots. Again thematic mixes from me in the form of different stages of the rituals in the Samothrace island in the Aegean sea during the Bronze/Iron age. This is a series of six mixes. Just one note: everything here is just theories of historians so nothing is proven for certain. Its still interesting!

Samothrace Mysteries (The Forbidden Entrance) part1

1. Optica - Hashidity
2. Total Eclipse - Kalevala
3. Mittelstandskinder Ohne Storm - Nirhtak-Ten Years After
4. Hallucinogen - Solstice
5. Hip'ee Haus - Half Moon (Live)
6. Elysium - Keep It Cool
7. Bodh Gaya - Message
8. Taiyo - Aquaspace
9. Jaia - XY
10. Spectral - Moonstone
11. Kailash - Higher
12. Chi A.D. - Purity
13. Faithless - God Is A DJ (Astral Projection Remix)

The island was isolated and anyone who is outside of the community was being killed, tortured and thrown out. For entering the sacred land you have to know a specific password, to write it on the entrance door and only then you can attend the ritual. The nature in the island is wild, you have to pass through many beautiful forests, streams, hills in order to reach the meadow surrounded by trees and walls on the hill and be a part of the mystery.

Samothrace Mysteries - Unfold The Secrets part 2

1. Juno Reactor - The Heavens (Vapour Mix)
2. Eargear - Like Music
3. Atmos - A.Pro.X
4. Human Blue - Sandal Wood
5. Mittelstandskinder Ohne Stom - Lunar Church
6. Ticon - Ghost In The Machinery
7. Ticon - Some Simple Sounds
8. ManMadeMan & Andy Guthrie - Transiva (Remix)
9. Subcouds - Happy Motors Swinging
10. Biot - Radiation
11. Noma - What's Out There
12. 12 Moons - ShapeShifter (Psychotone Mix)
13. Human Blue - Electric Harmonie

The newly welcomed visitor is greeted by the nobles and the priests who for a lot of months are secretly giving him instructions, teachings and thoughts about their religion. What you must do, what you must follow. The entire process is without seeing your master. The trust is bonded by many months of dedication but at the end you are involved into the religious society of the people.

Samothrace Mysteries - A Divine Chant part 3

1. Dynamix - The Rezistor

All the visitors are gathered in half circle around the priest. The priest is naked, bearing only a red belt and a forehead adornment proving his status among the others. His speech dedicated to the Gods starts slowly, evolves into holy words spoken in unknown language but understood by everyone. The sun starts to go down and he shows the need of a sacrifice. A joyful cry echoes in the forest...

The culmination of the ritual. The bull is brought to the center of the sanctuary and is being killed by men who are pure zealots of the religion of Samothrace. While killing, the priest thanks his gods and praises all the people involved. The blood is then being drank by the nobles, priests and the ordinary people.

The enthusiasm only faded away when the sunrise broke yet again and the new season started, until the next feast, the next ceremony that will take place, again, in the ancient centuries of Samothrace before the ancient Greek settled there.

I really don't know much when it comes to the goa and classic psy trance stuff but I'd really like to take these in and perhaps learn more about this genre/style. I really enjoyed the last trance mix of yours that I heard. These are nicely presented too I might add.

So I've gotta give it to you Mag, you absolutely opened my eyes with this mix. I'm completely stunned. I'm listening to your first one, and I'm blown away. These tracks are incredible, especially noting their time period, there is a lot of Old School Goa Trance that I wish I would have known about years ago! I'm 29 minutes in, and this track is hilarious and I had to start replying, simply because of the goofy banjo sounding thing in the background. It's got a guitar power chord, sitars, and an unreal environment in this mix.

It started off almost ambient and took like 15 minutes for anything serious to start happening. That build up is unbelievable, and everything that you have spun has been absolutely mint. Your mixing is great. There were a few moments where I could tell a transition had a minor clash, whether it be with the hats or another instrument. Flow is great, track selection is outstanding. The energy absolutely started exploding past the 45 minute mark, peaking at the last 15 minutes.

This set has banged harder than any other goa set I've ever heard from you. I had no idea oldschool goa had such power! You had a few other sets like your last rhyton shaped series that were super powerful, but this one just takes the cake. Fantastic work, I'm gonna try to listen to your other one today as well. I will review it once I'm finished

Great work!

I don't know what it is, but these 2 mixes keep freezing/crashing my iTunes... I can't figure out why, but the end result means I am unable to listen to them right now.

Hehe, this track is the Hip'ee Haus one, a live version of an ambient work (as far as I know, never heard the original). Very extraordinary track, have it from that compilation which is in the same spirit http://www.discogs.com/Various-Love.../release/237261 . Its not impossible to track it through the internet, for a reasonable price, check it!

Well, I am very happy that you felt exactly what I wanted to infiltrate into the mix. The slow build until you are reaching the temple and then, when you see it, to lose your mind and reason from its size and beauty (my image ). Mixing in both of the mixes is not the best but as an excuse I have to add that this music is VERY hard to mix without a minor clash, or melodies crossfading relentlessly. Its great that you find it not disturbing, that was my plan.

Winamp for the win! Anyway, I have been traveling around for the past 2 months without much music. SO I listened to your two mixes and really enjoyed it. I won't go into detail, but you definately hit the theme of each mix.
I just don't understand why there's part 1 and 6...
