IBIZA INFO THREAD
ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR GOING TO THE WHITE ISLAND!
LOCATION / GENERAL INFO
- Ibiza is an island of the Mediterranean Sea and is one of the four provinces of the Balearic Islands (Mallorca, Menorca, Formentera and Ibiza). The Balearic Islands is one of the 17 autonomous regions of Spain.
- You can arrive there by plane or by ferry (from Barcelona or Valencia). Usually the trip by ferry is cheaper but longer than by plane.
- Ibiza is a tiny island; from east (Ibiza town) to west (San Antonio) there are only 14 km, from north to south 38 km.
- The Catalan and the Spanish are the official languages in the Balearic Islands. Just a curiosity, in Catalan Ibiza is called Eïvissa (that’s the original name). However in Ibiza you don’t need any of those languages because it’s a multicultural/tourist place so at least almost all the people know english.
- If anyone doesn’t know; Ibiza is in the Euro zone and the currency is the euro.

ACCOMODATION
First of all you’ve to decide where you want to stay: Ibiza city and San Antonio are the "bigger towns", however you can pick more quiet and small places like Santa Eulàlia, Ses Figueretes, Platja d’en Bossa…
In Ibiza city you see the pure Ibiza, more families, gays, old people... definitley more quiet than San Antonio. In San Antonio most of the tourists are British, and in general it’s cheaper than Ibiza city. In San Antonio there is a street plenty of bars, pubs, mini-clubs… called West End where you will find cheap alcohol, easy sex, some fights… probably it's better to avoid this part of Ibiza.

NIGHTLIFE
MAIN CLUBS
Ibiza has 7 big and famous clubs everybody knows. Two in San Antonio (Eden and Es Paradis), other two in Ibiza town (Pacha and El Divino), one (Space) it’s located in platja d’en Bossa (near Ibiza town) and the rest (Amnesia and Privilege) on the road between Ibiza and San Antonio.
Each club has many promoters, the promoter organizes the party with his own decoration, style of music and line-ups. The club gives the installations, the security staff, and the waiters and waitresses. So depends on the promoter you can find trance, techno, progressive, house… on different days but at the same club.
About the tickets you can buy them at club doors or at the multiple shops, pubs… that sell the tickets cheaper than at club doors. So better if you buy the tickets before go to the clubs. If you do it you save money and time, because you don’t have to wait on the queue.
Prices: well ticket prices are expensive. Expect for the famous parties to pay from 40 € to 60 €, it depends where you buy the ticket. In other parties you can find the tickets for 15 €, 20 €, 30 € and so on.

This club was opened in 1970’s. In the beginning was called ‘Ku’ and was re-opened in 1994 under the name of Privilège. With a capacity of 10,000 clubbers is the biggest club on the island. Privilège is the size of a football pitch!!
The most famous party of this club it’s now on Friday and it’s called “Manumission”. This party it’s running since 1996 and has became one of the most famous parties of Ibiza. It’s an spectacle with fire, lights, hot girls/boys, eroticism… the music style of this party? house, progressive house… the price is 60 € but it worths just for the show and the great atmosphere.

This club was opened in 1970’s and it’s divided in two rooms: the main room and the terrace. The main room is smaller than the other and has a big equalizer under the place where the Dj spins. Also there is a cold air machine that rushes the crowd. The terrace is a fabulous place to relax with the funkier, house music and the trees around there.

Circo Loco means crazy circus and it's the party where the beautifully wasted come together in Ibiza. PARTY CALENDAR
May - June
July
August
September - October
TIPS
- Drink before enter at the club. If not you will spend an amount of money there, for example a vodka-orange inside Amnesia costs 10 €, at a pub on the West End not more than 5 - 6 €.
- Don’t smuggle drugs through the Ibiza's airport. It’s an unnecessary risk, you can find all the shit there.
- Don’t drive the scooter at night to go to the clubs. Take a taxi or the bus! On the road between Ibiza town and San Antonio (where are the clubs) there are many car accidents. The car is safer than the scooter but I wouldn’t drive it under the effects of drugs, so taxi or bus.
- Get a cheap hotel. I suppose if you go to Ibiza it’s basically for clubbing so the hotels are only for sleep. I recommend you to do not get an expensive hotel because most of the time you will be outside.
- Buy the tickets before enter at the club: Firstly you will save money and secondly you won’t have to wait on the queue (line). You can get the tickets at pubs, local shops, street promoters… I suggest the Pussy Cat pub in San Antonio for example.
- August is the month with more tourists; clubs, beaches, transports… are overcrowded. Also the prices are a bit higher in August. July, end of June and the beginning of September are the perfect periods to go to the island without doing the large queues waiting to enter to the clubs, to the buses… However the island is full of people on these dates but without the overcrowding of August.
