the point you're missing entirely is how corrupt the system has become
don't you get it? after he was done with his 1st term, he put his puppet Medvedev on the throne and pulled all the strings for another 4 years while he conveniently hid behind his PM status
I'm pretty sure he planned this comeback even before he started his first term
it doesn't matter how bad you say the other candidates are, that's so beyond the point! the electorate has to have access to other parties/opinions/opposition, and to a somewhat fair system
what he's attempting to recreate is an absolute totalitarian regime circa Stalin - everyone who's against him will get a nice dose of polonium in the near future
laugh and roll your eyes all you want at US and Europe with their attempts to bring attention to how rigged this election was but they're right - as much as I dislike US sticking their nose into everyone's business these days
fuck him and his veto that is slaughtering my syrian brothers.

She also wrote: We are hurtling back into a Soviet abyss, into an information vacuum that spells death from our own ignorance. All we have left is the internet, where information is still freely available. For the rest, if you want to go on working as a journalist, it's total servility to Putin. Otherwise, it can be death, the bullet, poison, or trial—whatever our special services, Putin's guard dogs, see fit. |
or how about this
100's of journalists killed throughout the years while putin was in power

Infrastructure In 2004 only a minority of Russians (8% of the population) had Internet access.[13] In May 2008, some 32.7 million users in Russia had continuous access to the internet, which accounted for internet penetration of almost 30%.[53] In November 2009 Address to the Federal Assembly, President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev acknowledged that today Russia is ranked only as the world's 63rd country guessing on the level of communications infrastructure development. He stressed the necessity to provide broadband Internet access on the whole Russia's territory in five years, and to manage the transition to the digital TV, as well as the fourth generation of cellular wireless standard.[35] |

Critical points The BBC has stated in recent years, that companies with close links to the Government, state-owned Gazprom among them, have bought several of the most influential papers.[23] According to Freedom House, the Russian government owns 60 percent of newspapers, and in whole or in part, all national television stations.[24] A news report in Kommersant suggested that the last two remaining semi-independent television channels REN TV and Channel 5 may become under state control in 2010.[25] |

Oh, look at all these russian "experts"
Brought here by their parents in last century, all their knowledge consists of wikipedia articles and CNN/BBC news.
Yep, and visit to see your grand parents once in a while, who is living in Ukraine, doesnt qualify you either.
You can gloat here all you want, but Putin won fair and square.
Of course real democracy is only when democrats are winning.
Well, tough luck this time, maybe in six years they will find some real leader, not these stoodges: Nemtsov, Navalny, Limonov etc.
BTW, how come none of these stoodges run for president?
Didnt even tried.
Putin has done wanders for Russia considering what it went through in the 90s, thanks to the Clinton/Harvard gang. However, I do feel it is time for another step forward for Russia and I'm not sure what the answer is.
