Just had an epiphany and I though I'd throw it out there.
Tech House is more fun to produce, techno is way more fun to DJ.
The reason being that some of the amazing tech house out there (and you might consider some of this just techno perhaps but anything with a melody I call Tech House) need not be touched. I'm talking about stuff from Romboy, Christian Smith, Gui Boratto, Dusty Kid, Pan-Pot, Green Velvet etc. The tracks have so many wonderful qualities they need to stand out on their own. Mixing them becomes transitioning from one to the other with the rest of the time twiddling your thumbs, but enjoying the sounds.
Straight up, no bullshit techno and minimal though you can fuck with to the point where the tracks are unrecognizable. I'm talking deck 4 with half the EQs pulled flat looping through a delay while you grab the kick from your favorite track of the day and filter out the bass of the other 3 tracks, putting the vocal sample from the next track cue'd up into a one-shot cue to hide randomly in the buildup of the main track playing. Just complete craziness going on.
I would love to produce prog tech / melodic tech wtf you wanna call it but DJ 4/4, boom boom, unz unz techno all night.
Am I crazy
I think the DST change has given me cabin fever. The sun is rising at my bed time now.

It's a great base to start with and you can just go fucking crazy with the colors. Btw, Chaska, I believe you're supposed to start some sort of replacement, official techno thread. I will change my wildly inacurate avatar in celebration when this happens. |
Was I fucked up when I said this?
Well we pondered the idea of starting a whole new website for about half a second before concluding we should just make a new thread with a more sensical name. I defer that honor to you.

Something official sounding and mildly intimidating

Capriati was mixing in his records off beat pissing Beyer off....
What a fucking embarrassment. Finally, Joel Mull closed Berghain in style.
He was upstaged and it showed that it pissed him off.

| Originally posted by Chaska Ok, so I got the skinny on the Drumcode party @ Berghain and why it's very unlikely to find any sets from that night/day... Word is Fitzpatrick was awesome, Capriati couldn't even hook up his gear and had to get Berghain staff to do it for him and Paul Ritch was ripping Berghain apart. Right at the end of Ritch's set, Beyer got into bitch mode and practically threw Ritch out of the booth. Beyer bored everyone to tears and just had this overall asshole attitude that put everyone off and nobody even cared when he finished his set. Then Len Faki saved Berghain and got everyone dancing up a storm and even at the end of his set the lights @ Berghain went on and everyone lost their shit, pissing off Beyer even more. In the meantime, Joel Mull was KILLING Panoramabar. Then Ida played the most horrible electro. Downstairs @ Berghain, Capriati and Beyer got in the booth all coked up chewing their faces off to do a b2b set where they both played the same music they played in their earlier sets Capriati was mixing in his records off beat pissing Beyer off.... What a fucking embarrassment. Finally, Joel Mull closed Berghain in style. If I was Beyer, I wouldn't let those recordings see the light of day either He was upstaged and it showed that it pissed him off. |
