I just watched Headhunters and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It has a really good script. Def recommend it.

Just watched Meloncholia. Don't even know what I can say about this there have been a lot of films lately that have been hitting a little too close to home.
I have been waiting for months to see Melancholia.
amazingly beautiful movie
^i'd heard about that movie, and considered watching it for some time. maybe i'll give it a go now
recently i saw:
a separation - did i mention that already in here? gotta be one of the best films of 2011. my 2nd or 3rd favorite (favorite 3 = 13 assassins, the mill and the cross, and a separation...in no specific order)
the skin i live in - wayyy more fucked up than i anticipated. enjoyable anyway.
carnage - meh. i really dig dialogue-driven movies at time but this was too dull at times
recently watched Jane eyre
this movie is now in my books as one of the best movies of 2011. it lived true to the novel, and superb acting by fassbender and wasikowska as jane.

Watched 50/50 and The Help
50/50 was alright. I laughed roughly 2 or 3 times just like when watching any other commercial movie these days. Why is it so hard to make a consistently funny movie? There is either one good joke every half hour or the movie is just trying to hard with a barrage of unfunny bullshit.
I had my eyes set on The Help for a while but was not motivated enough to watch it. Finally got around to it and I could definitely put it on my top 10 list of 2011. Really shows how patheticly ignorant people were in the 1960's. After the movie you just want to go around giving props to black people

Watched Melancholia, thought it was shit. Boring, and too try-hard imo...
I liked 'the help' though, came in with low expectations which HELPed I think... Was super hollywood, but fairly good given that...
Melancholia was fucking shit.

I didn't think it was the best movie ever but the subject matter was intriguing. I'm looking forward to future works from the director I liked the way it was put together
The movie was just really bland, the characters where not complex at all and we barely got to see who they are. The story was also lacking and was very predictable.

i think this interview may clear up some doubts and feelings about 'Melancholia'. He did this interview a couple of months back.
Devin talks to Lars Von Trier from Fantastic Fest on Vimeo.
^haha he seems like an awesome guy. I love how he's like "its not at all important that its about me"
The rise of planet of the apes! actually pretty good!

| Originally posted by EgosXII Dude, another sucker punch rant? cbf essay ranting back to you; I agree with Julz- It was boring, and, as I already said, pretentious, in that it tried WAYYY tooo hard to be something it wasn't (interesting, and complex most centrally). It didn't achieve what it wanted to, and though you seem to give anything that TRIES to achieve ANYTHING 5 stars, I definitely don't. |

Lars Von Trier totally didn't get melancholia either. He missed the whole fucking point of the movie!
Like, seriously man; I know there's 100% no point talking to you, but Lars himself said he fucking DID consult a heap of scientists, and was extremely interested in that side of it. Fuck.
