haha... yeah I guess she had some kids. But look at their decisions the past 5 years:

Hanks: Larry Crowne, Angels and Demons, The Great Buck Howard, Charlie Wilson's War


All terrible box office tank jobs (except C.W.W. which was respectable). And I don't count the animated movies they did voices for. I never liked Roberts in anything though. At least Hanks does well as a producer, but jesus... bring back the guy that was in Philadelphia, Road to Perdition, and The Green Mile if you're gonna act!

I recommend Source Code. Very interesting concept with a nice twist in the story. Don't read the spoilers. Just watch it.

Nah, I found it rather lame and formulaic. I don't want to say it outright bad, but it really makes nothing out of its ideas. Kinda like Inception. Different enough from the dumbed-down mainstream, but just not memorable or gripping at all, imo.

If you've seen Solaris you may complain that Trier once again ripped off Tarkovsky, but it's not really comparable. See it for the beautiful and (self)destructive Kirsten Dunst, audiovisually stunning prologue and typically Danish Festen-like family bickering in the first act.

Just finished DL'ing, can't wait to watch it tonight!!

Casey Affleck needs to be in more movies.

i have to agree. this was showing at the local theater a couple of months ago, and walked out after 20 minutes. i thought i would enjoy it, because of mr. oizo, but i was terribly wrong.

rewatched 'Vanilla Sky' the other night.



i do think people don't think too highly of this film, because it didn't do the original 'open your eyes' any justice. Didn't watch the original, but I do feel vanilla sky is a pretty solid film, and deserves a much better score than the current ratings on rotten tomatoes, metacritic, and imdb.

After watching the trailer for Rubber, you three still thought it was worth checking out?

I agree, except inception was really good.

Source code is kind've like a cross between a rip off of twelve monkeys and a rip off of inception.

fuck twelve monkeys is a great film. In fact, nearly all of gilliams films are! NEED MOAR!!

Is The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus any good?

12 years late but I just watched "The Sixth Sense". I recommend it. The creepy ghost scenes make it worth it.

one of his worse ones really... There are some really cool 'bits', but the film as a whole isn't that great

his best (most interesting) are his trippy early ones- Brazil & timebandits... all of the US ones are brilliant, but more 'normal', as they're american-- The Fisher King (don't know if anyone's seen this, but it is one of his best: fucking superb, and has Jeff Bridges & robin williams), 12 monkeys, and Fear & loathing in las vegas... films since then havn't been as good imo

Stake Land, looks good and well filmed, ok effects. Fairly tertiary character development and a mediocre ending... which probably means a terrible sequel at some point.

I highly recommend Miike's 13 Assassins. Yes, it's cliche-loaded, a Seven Samurai homage and I think even a remake. Sounds like a recipe for disaster but the movie actually is really good.

^ I just watched 13 Assassins for the second time last night. First time was in theaters. I liked it even more this time around. What a great movie - my favorite of the year so far.

i do agree best movie of 2011 for me so far. 13 assassins. i do plan to see tree of life this weekend, so i am anticipating that will supplant 13 assassins for the #1 spot.

my top 10 of 2011 so far:

1. 13 assassins
2. martha marcy may marlene (great news about this movie. it received an earlier boost from october 2011 to july 2011. look out for this movie)
3. meek's cutoff
4. how to die in oregon
5. attack the block
6. i saw the devil
7. hanna
8. biutiful
9. source code
10. Hobo with a shotgun
