(actually wasn't banned in China for the content, but for the fact that they went ahead with filming in Tibet without the necessary permits)

Mary and Max looks interesting. I'll check that out.

Easily one of my favourites of the past year.

swedish movies are mostly really awful. they're mostly just generic cop stories.

i guess it's just the ones that make it over here then. i've probably seen only 3 or 4 swedish movies but i've loved all of them

now for a trailer:

coming out end of july. i think it looks really good. we'll see though

Posted by The17sss on Apr-22-2010 00:52:

haha... I want to see this one. Any time you can watch a movie with Michael Cain turning vigilante and shooting motherfuckers is a win in my book.

Posted by WittyHandle on Apr-22-2010 01:30:

Generic revenge flick imo. Hope you get more out of it than I did.

Posted by LeopoldStotch on Apr-22-2010 02:23:

Harry Brown was your typical revenge movie, but it had a bit more meaning into the movie which made the movie better than your average film.

Not sure if anyone posted this yet... but I just saw this trailer last week, and I want to see it. Comes out in July. Personally, I liked John C. Reilly a lot more when he was doing character roles in dramas (Magnolia, Boogie Nights, Thin Red Line, etc.) and his leap into comedy has kinda sucked IMO. But this looks like a nice exception

Don't know if it has been mentioned before, but "Creation" is a fantastic movie. Watched it this Friday, and enjoyed it immensely. Trailer is not embeddable, but here's the link.

On the strength of the recommendation in this thread, I watched this on Friday night. then I watched it again on sunday afternoon.

One of the best films I've seen recently.

And hands down the best animation I've seen.

I thought that it was very well-done, and although a tad bit predictable I still thoroughly enjoyed it. Definitely going to give it another couple of views.

Would I be crazy to loosely compare Max to ******** in some instances?

This movie had an interesting impact on me. I walked out of the theater absolutely hating it with a passion. It made me uneasy, uncomfortable and the entire time I watched it I wanted to smack him and call him a fucking moron for being so stupid and hanging onto her.

It wasn't until late last year that I realized why I felt this way; I was him at one point. My first real "relationship" years ago had so many similarities to what he went through, and the movie brought a lot of the emotions I had felt back up to the surface. I knew exactly how it would play out from the get go, and I wanted to try my hardest to stop him from putting himself through that because I knew exactly how he was going to feel. It was at that point that I actually really, really appreciated the movie.

Anything involving this man:

Highlights include Casablanca (obviously), In A Lonely Place (absolutely loved this film despite one character who does nothing but recite cheap poetry), & The Big Sleep. Bogie's becoming my favorite actor

Did anyone see the movie called Happiness (1998) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0147612/

It's one of the most fucked up movies I ever watched
