just saw this preview tonight... looks like a pretty cool mind fuck movie. Has DiCaprio and Ken Watanabe in it, and is directed by Christopher Nolan (Dark Knight/Memento)

Christopher Nolan wrote, produced, and directed it.
Haven't looked forward to a movie like this in a while.

the last time Christopher Nolan was hands-on with all 3 roles was the movie 'The Prestige', but that was with his brother Jonathan involved in the writing process also. His first full feature film 'The Following' was done solely by him, and it was fairly well done. 'Inception' is interesting, as this is his 3rd non-Batman related feature film without his brother ('The Following','Insomnia' the other 2). Unfortunately, not many people have seen 'The Following' and avid movie viewers rank 'Insomnia' as one of his worst films he has done, which they think is still a good movie.
We will see here. I read this is something his wife Emma Thomas and him have been compiling for many years.
Oh boy. What do we have here? A new re-make of A Nightmare On Elm Street!? I'm torn here because I hate remakes of classics, the movie is produced by uber douche Michael Bay, but the trailer looks well done and the director is some dude who's experience has been a couple hundred music videos. Could go either way... I don't know. Thoughts?

the label sounds real cheesy.

| Originally posted by LeopoldStotch just a quick gripe. when they changed the name from "SciFi" to "SyFy", i was pretty upset with it. the label sounds real cheesy. |

By changing the name to Syfy, which remains phonetically identical, the new brand broadens perceptions and embraces a wider range of current and future imagination-based entertainment beyond just the traditional sci-fi genre, including fantasy, supernatural, paranormal, reality, mystery, action and adventure. It also positions the brand for future growth by creating an ownable trademark that can travel easily with consumers across new media and nonlinear digital platforms, new international channels and extend into new business ventures. "Imagine Greater" will become the new brand message and tagline, inviting both consumers and advertisers into a new era of unlimited imagination, exceptional experiences and greater entertainment. |

| Originally posted by bas Yeah I agree, something to do with them wanting to change their branding beyond just science fiction stuff. I dunno. |

I thought aspects of the Friday the 13th remake were very well done. The opening sequence with the sleeping bag over the fire was excellent, and got me pumped, but the rest slowed down a lot. The cinematography was very well done in parts... the scene with the girl water skiing captured the 70's golden summer look to a T. Overall it could've been much better of course, but I like to give credit where it's due.
Plus that one boob scene was the shiiiiiit.
As for the Nightmare remake, I'm skeptical. Freddy was my hero when I was growing up. I'll go see it with an open mind though. I want to like it.

Apocalypse Now sucked. I actually like it all, except the protagonist. Which is a shame because he's the fucking protagonist.
Saw today "The Wolfman". Don't watch it for your sake.

Disagree re: The Wolfman. I thought it was a classic monster flick and it was very well done. Gory as hell too, didn't expect that.
