do NOT see the book of eli. the first half was ok... they set up a great post-apocalyptic universe - it felt more like nostalgia to the fallout games than anything though. but it got old fast after the second "let me effortlessly kill every mother****** in the vicinity" scene.
the ending "twists" are laughable (spoilers coming, but knowing them them will not ruin it in any way, trust me. they will just soften the blow when you see it)... they reveal he's blind in some huge "gotcha" moment - this is long AFTER we already know he's an invincible prophet who's on a mission jesus verbally gave him, and we see him hunting, fighting, sniping, conversing with normal mannerisms, and doing other things blind people could never fucking do. only underlines how ridiculous it all is, made me actually give shayamalan's stupid twists some credit.
according to the 12 million it brought in at the box office, 97 people like it.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
i get it, i'm not allowed to think a movie is bad because rotten tomatoes tells me to like it.

if it was such a limited release why did it play in all of the chain theaters here?

I didn't care for it either, but I'm generally not into military movies, so I'm biased.

It held the highest per-screen-average of any movie playing theatrically in the United States for the first two weeks of its release, gradually moving into the top 20 chart with much wider-released, bigger budget studio films.

According to an article in the Springfield, Illinois State Journal-Register, there is a shortage of film prints of The Hurt Locker. Distributors are telling theater owners that they will have to wait weeks or months past the initial U.S. release date, to get the few available prints that are already in distribution. “Sometimes the distributors goof up,” said a film buyer for one theater, “they misjudge how wide they should go."

Originally posted by Schadenfreude I tend to love military movies, so it is why i was really disappointed by it. It was just so cookie cutter and bordering on propaganda.
we do not agree and share totally opposite political views and that is ok.

I just endured a piece of shit movie called Case 39. It is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. The director, Christian Alvart is so fucking awful that he makes Rob Zombie look like Martin Scorsese.
He managed to make a horror movie that should already be abysmal based on the script and Renee Zellweger alone, even worse by directing it like a Fallout Boy video.
I want my 90 minutes back.
lol... this one's called "Hot Tub Time Machine"
I really want to see that
So psyched for Hot Tub...
Somehow had it in my head Wolfman was a summer release, but I only have to wait a couple more weeks for it. Looks excellent.
Just finished An Education. Really enjoyed it.
I'm a bit late on this one but I think Pixar's WALL·E is spectacular.
