I think you'll have a hard time finding a job as a waiter (not speaking Dutch). But you can always register yourself at an employment agency and hope they got something...

Posted by Miss Proximus on Aug-08-2004 19:13:

I worked with loads of foreign people at the Rai (COnvention Centre) and Arena (Ajax stadium). I'm sure if you go to Amsterdam it won't be a problem. Also think of Irish pubs etc. Amsterdam needs English speaking people really, as in the centre, probably most restaurants are visited by tourists anyhow!

If I were you, I'd prepare myself by emailing Tempo Team employment agency: internet@tempo-team.nl (the rest all have online contact forms in Dutch). And maybe search for a few lower class hotels, and email them. If you don't try..you won't buy!

Posted by _-MIl0 on Aug-09-2004 00:54:

lol good idea, im going to be takeing lessons in dutch for the next year so hopefully that will help

Posted by Miss Proximus on Aug-15-2004 08:20:

I saw an add in a tourist paper yesterday about www.undutchables.nl This is an employment agency, especially for foreigners wanting to work in The Netherlands. Good luck!!

btw www.undutchables.com is also a good website. The book (The Undutchables) is very funny. Full of stereotypes!

Posted by _-MIl0 on Aug-17-2004 22:08:

thanks for the help everyone

Posted by apri_peel on Sep-03-2004 19:00:

also try
http://www.ubn-uitzendburo.nl/

i was given the link to that website when i went to study in amsterdam. the city has tons of irish bars, also australian bars, i knew an aussi girl who didnt speak a word in dutch who worked at a pub, so its definately possible. i've also seen postings at employment agencies looking for for english speakers for international call centers. its definately difficult, especially if youre from outside EU, but it can be done

Posted by maria111 on Sep-06-2004 09:29:

goodmorning!!maybe someone has already asked this but anyway...well i have few problems over here like...i am coming at holland at 29th of octomber you all know why and i was thiking how far away is the airport from the stadium?do i have the time to see amsterdam for a bit or not?should i come some hours later in case something bad happend?how is the trainsportation?how much i have to pay to moove to the city?also what kind of transportation i can use to moove?bus train or something?thanks in advance!Maria

Posted by jp on Sep-06-2004 09:45:

First take the train from Schiphol airport to Amsterdam Central Station (thats 4 Euro or so)

Then get the express train from Amsterdam to Arnhem Central Station
(get a weekend round trip, its about 25 Euro I guess)

There are busses going to Gelredome from the trainstation

Posted by BaRTeZ on Sep-06-2004 10:44:

About 20% of the trains in Holland are delayed, but if u only travel from Amsterdam to Arnhem its not needed to come very early.

I think its easier to buy a ticket @ Schiphol (Schiphol Airport - Arnhem), travel to Amsterdam Duivendrecht and take the intercity to Arnhem.

It takes about 80 mins and train ticket (weekend retour) is 25 euro

Posted by Miss Proximus on Sep-06-2004 13:37:

I was under the impression you could only get a weekend round trip (= retour) when you had an NS discount card??

Posted by jp on Sep-06-2004 16:10:

Overigens zat er geen zaterdagnacht tussen heen en weer

There are 4 trains in an hour to go to Arnhem. Go to S'Hertogenbosch from Eindhoven and from there on to Arnhem. Takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes. (trains leave at .15 and .45.... try www.ns.nl)

There isnt really that much to do in Eindhoven though....

kuch kuch,

well it isnt amsterdam but there are some nice things to do.

As for edm: on friday the 29 derrick may is spinning in a place called de rechter.

As for pubs and bars: You should go to the place where all the bars are located in eindhoven, this street is called stratumseind. de rechter is also in that street.

In stratumseind there are a lot of different kinds of bars and pubs. From irish pubs to a bar named the blue parrot where you can get drunk very easily and go after girls. Also bar Thomas is nice.

There are no big parties or festivals in this week. Here is a party-agenda for september: http://party.snt.utwente.nl/flock/SECTION/party.html\

When he is still in Amsterdam on saturday I suggest that he can go to Bloemendaal aan Zee (this is near Amsterdam) where the second Trance.nu party is given, the line-up is:

Mark Norman [Black Hole Rec.] (NL)
Menno de Jong [Anjunabeats, Gesture, United] (NL)
Ronski Speed [Euphonic] (Germany)
Airbase [Armada, JOOF] (Sweden)
Danjo & Rob Styles [ID&T, Armada] (NL)
Kyau vs. Albert [Euphonic] (Germany)
Mike Shiver [Captured, Lost Language] (Sweden)
Elusive [Oslo Nights] (Norway)

More info: http://event.trance.nu/

Edit: we zijn wel in een goeie bui met zijn 2en zeg
