I sa a really great older movie last night.. Children Of Men.
If you love science fiction its a must see.
I also sa the movie Dune for the first time, very good but I don't suggest it unless your a real science fiction nerd like me.
eh....it started off well but quickly became too chaotic and random.

Originally posted by jester I would totally see it again. Its quite intense. The absinth scene Thats how I felt (pretty much) after drinking it. |
ehhhh get him to the greek was funny, but nothing all that special i thought.
and i'd heard great things about diddy but come on now- his performance was totallyy overshadowed by shades of tom cruise in tropic thunder. at least early in the film. as the film progressed diddy's character was better for sure tho.
Brand is pretty hilarious in the movie- and I probably wouldn't mind seeing it again.
Finally got around to watching Invictus. Morgan Freeman was superb, as always. I thought the film was decent, but it lacked something. I don't know, I can't quite pinpoint it.
But it did. At least for me.

From the last week or two of nerdy sci-fi movies...
Moon = Excellent movie that I had my doubts about liking, reminded me a bit of Silent Running
Surrogates = Well done cyberpunk-ish movie, script needed to be just that little bit more challenging and it could have been great, but its linear and so predictable.
Star Trek (2009) = Not really a fan of trek movies, its probably great if you like them and passable if you don't.
Daybreakers = Interesting future-twist on the genre and dark enough, people have done worse, but its not great.

Originally posted by Joss Weatherby Ha, I hadn't thought many people had seen Silent Running. That movie made me sad. That poor robot... I like that Wall-E was basically Silent Running but with people instead of plants. |
Watched Prince of Persia last night.
I liked it, considering it's a cheesy Disney movie.
The best part was seeing Jake G and his muscular body all sweaty running and jumping around everywhere especially the close ups of his face when he smiles *melts*

Comes out next week. Can't wait to see this. If I'm not mistaken, Stanley Kubrick worked with the author of the book that this movie is based on, in 1950. Is it me, or is Casey Affleck turning into a damn good actor?
I've always thought he was solid. And yes, that films looks promising.
Casey Affleck has always done excellent work. Psyched to see he has a new film coming out.

coming soon. has anyone read the book? i haven't, but after reading a summary of the book, i am sure this movie is just going to be a kleenex driven weep fest. looking forward to the movie.

Just watched Youth in Revolt http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0403702/
Although people seem to either absolutely hate it or love it, it was a fairly good movie with a great cast and an indie feel.
Does Michael Cera ever play anyone but himself?
