One of the first DEMF Afterparties... City Club, Saturday, May 26, 2012

FACEBOOK INVITE/EVENT

I'm gonna make the trek down from Montreal this year.. hoping for some epic afterparties.

What's with the shortage of rooms this year? It seems like all the good hotels are booked solid already and they definitely jacked up some prices!!

I went ahead and booked a room at the Greektown Casino hotel. Rooms look pretty dope and price wasn't bad at all. Probably a 10-12 min walk.

100 days

ME!

I think rooms are still avail, $269 a night, but you need to get all 3 days, Sat thru Mon...

Going to be heading down for my very fist DEMF this year. A little bit unsure about the accommodation situation, just because I'm not sure how many of my friends are in. Looking at booking a room at a guesthouse a little bit out from festival center, and just cabbing it in and out. Anyone done anything like this?

Never gone... i think this will be the year

So expensive!

I reserved rooms at both the Greektown Casino which looks really swanky and the Holiday Inn Express.

Still hoping Delta opens up bookings...

The price of hotels is crazy this year. Contemplating staying in Windsor. We have rooms booked at the Double Tree and Hilton Garden Inn.

Yeah, pretty expensive considering the first time I stayed at DoubleTree for DEMF 3 years ago it was $169, last year $229 (After getting it reduced from $269 by talking to the manager) and this year $269 again.

But the hotel is top notch! They're not bitches about who can go to the room, they don't do the room card to enter or use elevators, it's a nice short walk, the rooms are amazing. Suite style with two separate rooms so you can be sleeping in the back room and not hear people partying or hanging out in the front.

And you can easily have 6 people in there, very roomy rooms, so if you split it that way, it's not that bad.

And the DoubleTree staff is always top notch, free shuttles to the festival or wherever you want to go, Greektown, Old Miami, afterparties. So you save on cabs. Parking was free since it's a holiday weekend and there is are tons of side streets.

The shuttle even took us to the liqour store one time.

And finally... the beds are probably the best beds i've ever slept on.

How much are you all getting rooms at the Greektown and Holiday Inn for?

Hotel prices do seem a little pricey (for Detroit).

Prob not going this year ... But I booked with priceline.com and got
a sweet deal last year.

Just booked a room this morning at the Robert Riverwalk Hotel, anyone stay there? I didn't look too much into it, there was one single room left but we got an awesome deal.. $111 a night and we're 2.5 miles away from DEMF.

So fuckin PUMPED!

It's not that close, and not the best area dude...

What are the chances of me getting shot?

I've been reading reviews, everything looks good. There's a complementary shuttle within 5 miles of the hotel and Hart Plaza is 2.5, so no cabs needed.

thats actually a very nice hotel and area...
its the old Omni hotel... very nice place...
across the street from the hotel is a bunch of luxury lofts, and the Rattlesnake restaurant is right around the corner...

aside from a few restaurants and i believe a brewery, the area doesnt offer much...
but dont worry about the area... its a nice place right on the river...

was thinking of checking this out this year finally, but there's hardly any techno at the moment ...

About 730-750 total. Still not that cheap..

Posted by PurpleHaze on Feb-17-2012 05:02:

I got a king deluxe room for $159 at greektown 2 nights ago. Crazy that they jacked the price so quickly!

Posted by jchung52 on Feb-17-2012 05:43:

stayed at holiday inn 3 yrs in a row. I always liked it but last year they screwed up big time. Double booked two of our rooms and we had 6 people ending up cramming into one room for the last two nights. Good thing everyone was on different schedules but still, ack em,

As for my attendance, haven't booked and don't plan on it. I may go down for a couple nights but the whole festival I think I'm tiring of. Also work is gonna be pretty heavy by that time so the boss won't like me "attending a wedding" again hahhaa

See ya there, bitchessssss

Lots of NYTA DEMF virgins, so it will be a good one

Booked my room in December. Atheneum suite with double beds = $200/night

Maybe I'm thinking further down... Usually it's night time when I go past the I-75 ramp and it wasn't great...
