T'was an easy one though

about indian immigrants who start out a life in new york and then the story shifts to their son and his struggles with two cultures. just saw this, pretty damn good.

documentary on the lost boys of sudan, the majority of the film follows three men from the UN refugee camp in kenya to syracuse and pittsburgh. really great movie, pretty emotional at times and damn funny at the same time.

i dig this movie. i thought it was going to be some cheesy movie where it was going to be some happy ending, but i came out pleasantly happy after watching the movie. puts some focus on the cultural differences in both sides of the world.

Saw Public Enemies this weekend. I enjoyed it. Only thing I didn't like was the shifty camera movement Michael Mann seems to get off on. I could really do without that. But aside from that, this John Dillinger story was entertaining.

Also saw Extract and loved it. Some really funny subtle humor here. I'd say Ben Affleck stole the show. Incredibly enough. And man, Mila Kunis is one hot piece of ass.

Wanted to see that, actually. Have to wait for DVD now, I think.

thoroughly let down by public enemies. bored the hell out of me.

extract was good though. not as good as office space, but still lots of chuckles to be had. agreed, affleck was fucking ace.

Fantastic Mr Fox really surprised me. I'm not a Wes Anderson fan usually, but it was very well done. Checked RT after and saw it got a 92.

Recently watched Men who stare at goats which was a huge dissapointment.

Finally got around to seeing The Hurt Locker. Great movie.

Babylon AD is on HBO right now...worth watching? I mean it's in HD and all.

Posted by Schadenfreude on Jan-19-2010 18:08:

i didn't like the hurt locker only because of the weak ass ending to it.

there was not much of a point to the movie other than the same tension sequences over and over. It is too bad, because with a better plot and ending it would easily be a great movie.

its just another mindless action movie with a chopped up story

Recently watched:

Law abiding citizen - thoroughly enjoyed this one. Awesome movie.
Up in the air - liked it. Clooney is a great actor.
Cloudy with a chance of meatballs - nice animated movie. Funny story, nothing special but still worth watching.
Public enemies - I was a bit let down by this. Not much going on in those two hours.

On the watchlist:

The men who stare at goats
The goods: live hard, sell hard - mainly because of Jeremy Piven
Elite squad (Tropa de Elite)
The taking of Pelham 123
Some of the movies posted earlier in this thread.

worst movie review ever. the opening line that says "war is a drug" is the whole point.

Posted by Schadenfreude on Jan-19-2010 18:54:

what did fox news say about it?

i guess that symbolism is just relevant to republicans because with normal people it doesn't cut it.

Your sense of humor is equally bad. "Normal" people are who... the 3% of people who saw it the movie and didn't like it?

Posted by Schadenfreude on Jan-19-2010 19:07:

but war is a drug man.

i would love to see where you got the 3% number, fox news?

USA!USA!USA!

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Posted by LeopoldStotch on Jan-19-2010 19:08:

i watched this movie over the weekend as one of those late middle of the night movies.

it gets me everytime. this movie is so bad, it's good. the movie sucks. the acting sucks. the directing sucks. but guess what? the rock kicks people's asses in the movie. that just instantly makes the movie good to me. he needs to do more cheesy action movies like this.

It's got nothing to do with being a Republican... even liberal hacks like Roger Ebert loved it. If you didn't like it for what it was, that's fine... but based on what you said, it sounds like you missed some of the finer points. But whatever, I'm not going to argue with you because I know how you get.
