hadn't seen some of those clips.

I just saw Scott Pilgrim VS The World

Pretty fucking funny if you ask me.

Posted by yukii on Nov-12-2010 04:55:

I've seen the books all over the book store but I thought it was some shitty ass teen emo novel because the titles were so cheesy..
But I saw one of the movies on Netflix was rated really high (I didn't notice it was the second part) and I watched it.
I want to say the trailer is really AWFULLY shitty but hell, this movie was brilliant! I loved it.. totally loved it.. action, very suspenseful, meanwhile you're trying to figure out what happened.. AND.. for being a foreign film (not the stereotypical Hollywood shit films) it was very well made.

The only down side is that it is in Swedish so I had to watch it with subtitles.. but it's always better to watch a movie in its original language (I hate dubbed).

Yeah I was surprised I actually enjoyed it.

Been catching up on older movies I missed out on and just watched Hard Candy http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0424136/ and it shocked me to my core.

Donnie Brasco is really good also.

Getting a pretty respectable movie collection, getting close to 750 movies!

Posted by WittyHandle on Nov-12-2010 05:49:

I created a profile in my friend's Netflix account just so I could use it's suggestions feature. I've rated about 450 flicks, and it's recommendations are so so far off for me it's ridiculous. It's pretty much just a way for me to knock down ones I've seen now. I'm beginning to think I've seen every American made movie that I would like, and I have nothing against American cinema at all. Time to conquer more foreign ones I guess.

How about you start with this one? I know I will. I mentioned it a month or two ago but I'm bumping it because it's finally showing a release date of December 29th.

Nice, I remember seeing the trailer and wanting to see it, but had forgotten about it. Thanks for the reminder.

Anyone seen Machete yet? (searched but couldn't find anything)

I saw it today, and it was amazing. Gore and violence, funny, taking the piss out of itself, great cast...

It's wasn't a "great" film by traditional standards, but it sure was awesome

FTP! NOW!

OT: Been re-watching "The Godfather" lately. Haven't seen it since I was a kid and wanted to see it from a maturer light now.

i'm quite excited for this! but, hey, why make him wait to watch foreign flicks. i found myself in the same boat and have been watching foreign flicks almost exclusively lately. my advice: start off by spending a bit of time in asia- korea, japan, eventually some chinese stuff

Keep in mind that what makes a movie collection respectable is not the sheer number of movies but their quality, representing your taste. As I can't think of anything near 750 good movies, I suspect there's a lot of crap in there.

I loved the shit outta that movie. At least the first half. The second I felt like it slowed down a lot and they tried too hard to hold to the story, where it's real appeal was in its over-the-topness, not plot. Still, excellent for what it is

I have tried a few asian flicks but haven't had much luck yet. Maybe just the wrong ones.

It's out... the trailer to "The Beaver"- Mel Gibson's big comeback movie. And HO-LEE-FUCK....

This might be enjoyable if "the beaver" starts mumbling about Jews having started all the world's wars or something.

dear god, that is NOT real... is it????

the trailer is fucking shit, and how horrible is that voice-over: That is the least well written voice over ever.

watched My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done? the other day...would def recommend it

I recommend Nikki Reed. In every movie.

Simply because she's hot. What other reason do you need? Dick.

how's this for a voice over?

Posted by yukii on Dec-08-2010 03:52:

God, that movie looks so fucking stupid I cringed and couldn't finish the trailer. It doesn't help that I think Gibson is a ballsack.

Ink

Satantango
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0111341/

The latter is very much not for everybody. Actually, it's hardly for anybody.
