Wut? Are we talking about some strange director's cut here? The one I saw never explained anything about time-travel laws.

Although there is a Director's Cut where the time-travelling laws in it are allegedly explained in more detail, I was not talking about that version. There's bits and pieces scattered through the original movie, mostly read from the "Philosophy of Time Travel" book that the teacher hands to Donnie. And they are quite amateurish.

I don't want to be rude but I must ask...you do realize the movie is about a vortex in time/space that creates a loop which Donnie closes in order to save the universe, right?

And you read that book on the DVD or the internet I presume. To answer your absolutely rude question, for which I'll hate you for eternity, yes, I know, since I read it, too. I just choose to ignore it as it's not directly a part of the movie. The movie is great as it is and if the makers want to ruin it with some retarded explanation they can fuck right off. The time travel is their interpretation, I have mine, and I'm right, as usual.

Also, how exactly can you be amateurish when it comes to time travel? It's not like there was a "right way" or some obvious things you could do wrong with something defying our knowledge of physics. It can be retarded, unimaginative and pointless (and almost always is in movies) but I'm not sure I get amateurish...

Everything is pretty amateurish since Primer.

You need to watch the original Bad Lieutenant, with Harvey Keitel. Pretty fucked up.

Actually I never bothered to read it. It's rather evident from the movie, anyways.

What I meant by "amateurish" is that it reeks of unfamiliarity with the subject of time travel and that it's very unpolished. Portals through time can be opened through water? C'mon, that's really lame.

That being said, I actually enjoyed the movie.

His performance was terrific, but the movie itself did nothing for me. Although the rumor about the dream sequence is quite interesting, I must say.

Just watched Harry Brown. What an awesome performance by Michael Caine.

Not really into a lot of action flicks, but they did well with this one because the stuntwork is amazing to watch, its sort of if the French made 'Escape from NY'... but with marginally better acting, far superior camera work and no special effects.
