Well look at you two frontal-lobe-heavy intellectuals. Like I can't figure out the point of the movie? LOL... I get it, believe me. Many movies with good intentions often suck, and this was one of them in my opinion.
My pet peeve is when people try to sound extra smart by invoking names like "Au Revoir Les Enfants" and other obscure art house indies that they know nobody has really seen, and try to show off like they're part of Cannes film festival underground. Yep. The need to read a movie takes away from both the nuances of the film, the shooting style, etc. You can't pay attention to the words and fully understand what is going on in the scene.

Are you arguing that movies shouldn't be watched in anything but their native language? Neither subtitled or dubbed? If so, obviously it's ideal to get as close to the original as possible, but isn't watching it translated and getting most of the meaning better than none at all? I think so.
