He's typecast, but I think he did this movie specifically to show that he can do other roles.

Currently in a theater near you ......

Winter's Bone - a neo noir film that really delves into the antagonist's crutch situation and her fight to break the imaginary mold. A good film to see when you have some free time. Not the best of movies, but not bad either.

Cyrus - I don't believe this movie has been given heavy media exposure, so I might as well call this an "underground" movie. A funny dark comedy that really makes you want to go out and give John C. Reilly and Maresi Tomei a hug. Not much of a Jonah Hill fan, and Catherine Keener is great. I recommend this movie, espcially if you're out with your significant other / girlfriend / wife / pet / child lover / milf lover / etc ..

.... and coming soon

The Kids Are All Right - I saw a preview of this movie, and felt it is a real funny movie. based on the previews, the annette benning-julianne moore combination looks promising, and the mark ruffalo situation being introduced in their lives looks "haha-funny-knee-slapper".

Countdown to Zero - for you conspiracy theorists out there

heard less than raving reviews. Consensus, from what I've heard, is great premise, great job by Affleck, but really disjointed and poorly directed.

Saw this, earlier, today.

Saw Get him to the Greek again in the theater. Laughed just as much the 2nd time around.

Greenberg is one of the more uncomfortable and pointless movies I've seen in a while.

Psyched for Predators Friday. Not too high hopes, but Robert Rodriguez produced it, so it's worth a trip to the theater for me.

The Road

...what a nightmare I had after watching that one, it is masterfully done in terms of being bleak, emotional and then they'll throw in some stuff that's just damn wrong!

i glad to see everyone here has a positive reaction to this movie. i am afraid not many know how much of a good movie this is. i feel the movie was not properly marketed to us when it was released, therefore having a quick turnaround to dvd.

Urga - Close to Eden is an excellent film by Nikita Mikhalkov about life in Mongolia. Recently caught it on TV and liked it a lot.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103176/

It's rich, inspiring, charming and the best thing is that DiCaprio is not in it! Then again most people here don't seem to appreciate either of these features.

Bleak as hell indeed. Very good movie. Didn't even come to a theater here, which is pretty unusual.

Anyone seen Chloe? I really enjoyed the film's art direction and visual themes, but the plot seemed rather formulaic in that "I've seen this film many times before" way.

That being said, Amanda Seyfried looked really delicious.

Although people seem to either absolutely hate it or love it, it was a fairly good movie with a great cast and an indie feel.

I caught this over the weekend. I give it my dark comedy seal of approval.

I saw "Cyrus" this past weekend... pretty funny and uncomfortably awkward at the same time; every character had some form of neurotic behavior that the actor did an excellent job of portraying. I found myself laughing a lot to myself between scenes in anticipation of the next fucked up thing that was about to happen.

i saw the first 45 minutes of it last year, and walked out. i was feeling too pretentious and douchey when watching the film. maybe it was just me, and how i was feeling, because the previous movie i watched before this was real hipster and wanted to punch puppies after the ending.

that being said, i might give it another chance.

Yeah, it had some quite creepy scenes.

The scene where Cyrus first shows off his electronic music is gold.

I really wanted to see Cyrus, wasn't playing at the theatre across the street from me

Yeah, they're hipster fucks, but the film had enough laughs where you can forgive them some.

"Sounds like Steve Miller."

"No it doesn't".

Waiting to see 'inception'.

I have fears I am overhyping this movie in my head so much that I am going to be disappointed after watching this movie.

Posted by WittyHandle on Jul-16-2010 05:05:

I always tell myself a movie I'm really looking forward to is going to suck just to avoid that trap. I've done a real good job keeping my expectations of Inception down. Decided not to hit the midnight show tonight, but it's on for 9:45 tomorrow.

Posted by LeopoldStotch on Jul-16-2010 07:53:

back. just have to say ...... it's worth the whole 150 minutes. just want to recommend to watch the movie with an open mind.

Just received my Young & Dangerous DVD series in the mail. If anyone likes asian triad movies and can stand the subtitles, its a good series to watch.
