I get what you're saying, jeff, but I must say I like Vain better. I feel it's more intimate, and more club-ish than Beacham. The Beacham is what it is, a theater with nightclub attributes.
I saw Gabriel and Dresden as well as many other DJs at Vain and even if I didn't care for the music, I always had a great time. That place knows how to throw great parties. For instance, I went to Nicky Romero there in late May. Romero wasn't very good, but the vibe in there was electric, and they had those lightup foam stick things that they were giving everybody. Sounds corny but it's those sorts of things that help set the vibe for the night. It helps they have a good sound system but I think that's the least of it. They have a great staff and the bartenders always seem to be on point. I must say though, first time I went there was for Calvin Harris and it was god-awful, the AC went out and it was a sweltering night on top of it. I think that just made everything seem worse than it was.
Beacham is kind of, I dunno, sterile? Just not as much fun. Didn't see Afrojack, maybe it was better? Crowd seems better at Vain, at least to me.

I've had just the opposite experience. I hate the flow, the bartenders take 10 minutes of looking at their shoes to serve a drink, and the staff didn't know anything about the night. Even when I was hosting events there (gabriel + dresden was one of them) we did the best we could. Now the new owners have made some changes that are pretty neat - but the main problem of a dance floor that only 50 people can fit on just makes this venue unattractive to me.
We could certainly hand out blinky foamie batons at events if you think that is the key to a successful party... but I've always thought the venue, the talent, the sound, the lighting, and customer experience were #1.

Well that's just it, I think Vain outperforms Beacham on all of those points.
Sure, I never had have to wait long to get a drink at the Beacham...but that's because the place is enormous and each time I've gone for an EDM show, it has never been even half full (I'm sure Afrojack was stuffed).
And I don't think the key to a successful party is the foam blinky-light things, but it's that kind of touch that helps create a good vibe. Bottom line, I have a lot of fun at Vain, and I never had as much fun at Beacham (not talking about the music or DJs, but strictly the club experience).
BTW, I like the "small" dancefloor at Vain. Beacham is so freakin' big that it almost feels like a tent at Ultra or something. Some people look for different things when they go out to these parties, I guess.
