I looked into the travel packages on Insomniac's site, and they are indeed a great deal. But, they are also 100% non-refundable within 60 days of the event (right about now). I calculated Luxor at $85 a night including taxes and resort fee.
If I knew 100% for sure that I could have those days off, I would have booked it. Unfortunately, after having been laid off and now consulting short-term, the future is uncertain. Oddly enough, if I knew that I'd be unemployed then, I'd book it. But, if I sonehow beat the odds and land a great job, would depend on whether I could get the time off.
Next, I'm going to check into booking hotel at the EDC rates and getting festival pass and bus transport separately. Or, maybe look at the package again along with insurance that allows "change of mind" cancellation.
Tomorrowland already sold out in a day, and was even more of a logistical nightmare for me, so perhaps EDC is is...

EDC it is.
I booked at the Luxor under the EDC group rate for $116/night (inclusive of 12% tax and useless "resort fee.") Circus Circus was a little cheaper, but after reading reviews about the hordes of families there with their screaming kids, I decided that it was actually "more expensive." The nights before Friday and after Sunday are really cheap, so adding a few doesn't cost much more, and then you can see more of Vegas than just EDC.
I stayed at Luxor last year for EDC and the room was great, they took care of all my special requests (most importantly soft bed, and a room NOT right next to the elevator). Only major dislike was the "high speed internet" that was covered by the "resort fee"...was a 15 foot tangled up cable hanging near the TV with an Ethernet connector (clip broken), so it would constantly fall out...and if dial up is considered "high speed" then it was almost "high speed!"
Got the 3-day festival and shuttle passes. Hotel is fully refundable up to 48 hours before arrival and I'm sure that I can resell passes, especially if it should sell out.
The package deals are the way to go if you're 100% certain that you'll be there, however, could have saved over $200 on the exact same booking that way. Buying insurance didn't make any sense for the cost, and it only covered 75% of the non-refundable fees. Since my hotel is fully refundable, I still have the option of looking for other hotels (I don't think Priceline would work, however, since I want to be at a Casino where the shuttle stops).
Edit: If you're going to EDC Sunday night, I recommend adding Monday night to the hotel stay, it's usually one of the cheapest nights. Last year, Luxor wouldn't extend checkout past the 11am checkout time without charging me a "late checkout fee" that cost around the same as an extra night had I booked it in advance). Then you can sleep in late, stay Monday night too and probably get cheaper airfare back on Tuesday if you're flying...

I'm pretty sure it's just a stage with his name/curated by him.. kind of like Carl Cox & Friends, TATW, ASOT, Vagabundos etc......

Good to know. We're staying at Luxor but have to fly out Monday evening, sounds like I'll be planning to pay basically an extra night so we can sleep (crash?) in.
Sounds like the rooms are decent at least.. first time in Vegas so we decided to be tourist like and book what looked like a "cool place."
